Mk3 Golf 8v Gti Specs?
Does anyone know or has a link for the standard performance stats for a Mk3 96 Golf Gti 8valve?
0-60
1/4 mile
BHP@rpms
Torque@rpms
Kerb weight
etc.
I've tried googling and all I can find is MK1,2 and new golf specs, not the MK3. Or USA spec cars (USA being slower)

bhp- 115 kerb weight 1165 kg not sure what rpm power produced

0-60 was 10 iirc
BHP was indeed 115, 2.0 version of the 1.8 in the MK2.
A MK2 8 valve is quite a bit quicker, you ned the 16 valve version for any claims of 'performance'
If you get away from the GTI badge dissapointment and lack of GTI performance its quite a nice drive.

Mk3 is indeed more of a cruiser (and about 200kg+ heavier than the Mk2), I'd say get a good spec TDI instead of the 8v GTi, similar performance and if you can put up with the racket cheaper to run too

I'm not looking specifically for one, just have been offered one, and may use it as a stop gap car. So it's either that or nowt...but at £1200 for what is an absolutely imacculate (even by my very picky standards) one owner car, so I can't argue or be choosy If it were on the market it would be up for £2k+ along with all the other overpriced golfs!
122lbft and 17 sec 1/4 will do me fine for all intents and purposes

Slooooooooooooooooow...
Engine - 1984cc, 4cyl, 8v
Power - 115bhp
Torque - 122lb/ft
Kerb weight - 1035kg (or so Parkers says!?)
0-60 - 9.8secs
Speed - 123mph
1/4 mile - Upper teens (my guess)
I knew a lad that had one, it was lame!

Go for a Colour Concept in Red or Black. Recaro leather, better alloys and decent silver clocks. I think they may have had A/C as well. Failing that the Anniversary Editions both 16 and 8 v are also well spec'ed. Top interiors again. But of course the later/runout GL TDi is very well spec'd.
