nissan silvia,180sx,200sx,s13,s14,s15
hi iam interested in a nissan 200sx but iam puzzled about the different name tags can anyone explain the differences.
does the 180sx only come with a 1.8 turbo?
and i guess the 200sx replaced it?
so where does the silvia come in?
and i think the s13,14,15 are the different generations is that right?
any more info on these cars would be good.

Nissan 200sx s13 1.8 turbo (called 180sx in other countries)
Nissan 200sx s14 2.0 turbo
Nissan Sylvia S15 2.0 turbo and N/A (import only) only the Spec-R is turbo charged (250bhp)
have a look at http://www.sxoc.co.uk
Oh and I think they where all called Sylvias in other non European markets

the S13 used the CA18DET engine and was 1.8, made around 160-170bhp.
The S14 used the more reliable SR20DET 2 litre engine, makes around 197bhp.
The S14a used the same, but had niceer headlights.
The S15 is available on import only, which is a shame as its an awesome car.
The general rule of thumb is the buy the newest you can afford. I spent 5k on mine and didnt regret it at all.
astraboy.

Silvia is basically a notchback coupé, & it is exported as 200SX for the S14 & S15, replacing the S13 200SX in export markets. The Silvia name is a JDM exclusive from I think S13 onwards.
Silvia is a model line that has a long history, whereas 180SX only existed with the S13 series.

Just to confuse it further, there are many different specifiactions, Jack, Queen and King, along with the rare factory and more common DIY Sil80's.....
