Default Ford Diesel Help

Not sure if this is really the right section but its worth a go. As well as the scoob I have a everyday car too.
Its a 99 escort, got some sort of grinding noise coming from under the car.
just had it serviced and had the cambelt done, ever since there is some sort of noise when i take my foot off the accelerator. If the clutch is pressed down it doesnt happen.

Sounds almost like its something knocking. I have no idea what it is but am guessing it must be gearbox related.

Anyone got any ideas?.

Please try to resist the ford jokes, this is serious as its doing my head in as i have to constantly keep coasting round town for fear of this noise, when i am in the high street.

Probably tired input shaft bearings.

Also when you had the belt done did they replace the tensioners as well?

If not one of the tensioners could have given up with the strain of a tighter new belt. (You ae supposed to replace them every time the belt is changed at max 36k. That is why Ford supply it as a complete kit.) (Would give noise under load)

might be the tensioners then, only it doesnt do it under load it only does it when you take your foot off the accelerator.

if only i could crank up the turbo, wasnt aware you could. still getting a new focus soon.

found the problem, seems for some reason the alternator bracket is knocking the subframe.
sounds like an engine mount is on the way out.
