Question 0% finance on clio182

Hi

Looking at getting a new clio 182 from a main dealer can get one with the cup handling pack and spoiler kit for £12730

But Renault uk are offering 0% finance on the 182 at the moment ....

Can I still get it or will I have to pay list ? (which makes it pointless)

My thinking is that the finance will be on the renault portion and the rest is the dealer mark up ??

You'll never get 0% credit on a hot hatch. Zero percent credit is a sales promotion, sales promotions are generally used for cars they want to shift. Hot hatches have high demand anyway, they don't need sales promo's to get rid. You'll not get free insurance either the only hot hatch I have ever known that had free insurance and occatoinally free credit was the Saxo VTR/S which is why you see so many of them in the hands of young men that work at ATS!

Yep but the price is sky high when bought through them. Prices from £14700 for instance.

Good searching about and its possible to get one for around £12500

From £14700.............

Get a loan (cheap as chips) and get a better deal with a cash buy.

Car dealers never give stuff away, not on finance. They'll try and make the 0% a 'feature' of the deal/car.

But I have read people in here getting dealers down as low as £12k odd, so they're making up the missing finance profit in the price, nearly £15k a lorra money for a 182. As mentioned prolly better check out the likes of Northern Rock for a cheap loan and getting a dealer down to rock bottom price..

I'm not being rude but only fools pay list price on new cars.

They want to sell you the car, so there is always room to negotiate.

The was a thread running a couple of weeks ago re 182's and the deals on them, I went in with the intention of getting one on the same deal you've been looking at, £499 deposit and 0% finance.

If you weigh it up what are you going to be paying over the course of three / five years for a low APR loan (northern rock/ abbey etc) vs the 0% from renault even with the higher list price the will not be much in it.

The good thing with main dealers is you can ALWAYS haggle, I ended up getting the 100 HP clio DCI due to the engine being excellent, lots (and I mean loads) of low down torque and very nibble, has the same interior as the clio cup and the girlfriend does a lot of miles per year for the job so seamed like a better all round package.

I got a discount of 6% off list price and a reduction on the APR of the finance from 3.3% to 2.3% also got a hefty discount on some cool toys as well, digital pack, metallic pearl paint and an uprated cd changer system. The thing to remember is that you can only ask, if your being too cheeky they will say but they are looking for a sale, so haggle hard.

Something to think about as well is that the Clio is due for a model change shortly so the prices will be dropping then as well.

happy to help.

Scoobytal-go back to the dealer and tell them you want the 0% finanance. You have already agreed the price. He can only say no at the worst in which case you are no worse off. However, as this is a current offer from Renault then I dont think he can say no.

Think Beastie is right.
They cannot treat a cash customer any differnely than a finance customer.
Trading standards will sort that out

Thanks Guys

Want to use a main dealer but for less than 12k I think I might reconsider (must be full uk spec ect not pre reg or import)

drivethedeal.com put you in touch with a dealer but they haggle the price 12730 was from them

will probably finance about 6k of it

Well just been to the local main dealer for a nose round, they had a brand new 182 with both cup packs in the show room.

Nice looking little car lots of standard kit (more than a uk sti !!)

Leather/suede seats, climate control, cruise control, Gas discharge head lights automatic wipers ect

Anyway nice salesman offers me a test drive ....

It was ok (a bit guttless but not bad)

It was as much fun round the twisties as my scoob just slower !

and now the best bit

The deal (with no part ex)

Brand new 05 del miles Clio 182 with both cup packs (not the one in the showroom) retail price £15095

6-8 weeks delivery

£12750 on the road

With 50% down and .....

3 years 0% finance on the balance !!
