Question

Hi All

I am still waiting for the SVA test for my Type R, but...

I found out today that the finance company I was going with were trying to charge me about 30% apr!!!

The best they could do was 22% in the end.

I'm used to paying around 11-12% through lombard, but they are unable to finance grey imports.

I really want to stick to HP as I found the legal back-up you get to be invaluable in my Lotus experience so I don't want to go for a striaght bank loan.

Anybody know of a good finance company which will HP an import?

Cheers

Simon

Simon,

I used General Guarantee for my STi. I went for lease purchase, but they would have done straight hp.

Mail me off line in you want the tel' no. I have it at work.

Their rates were very good too.

Mark.

I run a finance company that specialises in IT finance. The easiest and cheapest way of funding your import purchase is through a home loan if you are a home owner of course.

If not give me a call I will try and pass on as much wisdom as poss 0707 1212127.

Keep shopping around - I got several c8% 'offers', granted on a UK car, but some of thopse were straight bank loans so it won't make a difference. Granted interest rates are around .75% higher now.

If you take out a Royalties Gold Account with Royal Bank of Scotland, you will get 1.5% of their base rate for car loans - and even allow you a final payment option to keep 'monthlies' down!

My financing of my STI V went VERY high up in General Guarantee. They dont seem to like them anymore. Some importers like to pass them as ordinary Scoobies. Bit dodgy to me.

General Guarantee did a five year deal for me in the end, but were not happy. Ive financed 9 cars through them before though.

If you are prepared to forego the HP protection element - Direct Line will lend you cash based on monthly cashflow at around 8.8 - 9.9%. Up to £25k and they didn't want to know what kind of car that it was.

Hi All

Thanks for the replies guys!

OK. I spent most of Friday on the phone to all sorts of companies.

General Guarantee won't do imports and say that they would only consider it if there is a very long standing relationship with the customer.

This was pretty much the story with everbody I phoned.

There must be SOMEBODY that is in a similar situation to me who has financed their import on a lease / HP agreement?

Getting a bit short of time now, so any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers

Simon
