Noble m12
thinking of selling my sti5 type r and buying a Noble m12 gto proberbly in the next six months i wanted a dodge viper but i cant get insured untill im 25 witch is about another 20 months. nobel was second on my list what does everyone else think ne1 had any experience with one. i couldnt belive the insurance is only about another £70 more than my scoob and u only need a cat2 immobelizer not bad for a car that was only 2 sec slower than a pagani zonda round the topgear track and the noble done it in the wet

Hiya.
They are great cars. I looked very hard at a 3R recently. They look fantastic, are very fast & the dealers are enthusiastic & helpful. Rare too - hardly ever seen one on the road. Can't think of any other car that £ for £ delivers like a Noble.
I was put off by the build quality, the cramped pedal lay-out & the residuals.
Addressing those points, I was driving a 996 at the time I was looking, which is a very well built car, so it was never going to be built to that standard. I just felt that in an accident, I wouldn't stand a chance.
I am sure with a pair of driving shoes on the pedals wouldn't be an issue.
As for residuals, every car I looked at had around 3-8k up to 2 years old. Noble's tend to get used on the track & not as day to day cars (which is what I needed) so I was worried about trading a car in that had done 8-10k miles a year, when pretty much every other car would have a lot less miles.
Again, having said that, limited numbers produced would help residuals.
Go for a drive & see what you think.
You will want one though after the drive !
The "problem" with the Noble is that hardly any other car delivers the performance for the price, and can be used as an everyday car.

I pick up my Noble GTO3 tomorrow, drive one and you'll buy one believe me!! The Noble will be one of three cars that I run, to be honest I don't think you'll be able to run one as your everyday car, they have no luggage space at all except for 2 maps pockets.
I brought mine mainly for the odd track day and a bit of road use, i believe that if you keep the car low mileage it will hold its value well. A high mileage car might be a different story!
Cheers

the car wouldent need to be a every day car as i am about to buy a escort van diesel for work plus i go fishing and play golf so i thort a van would be well handy so the car will only do around 2-3k a year. I thort about a 911 but to get a 911 that would out perform my type r i would need something like a 993 turbo and there about 50k and im looking at spending around 30-33k. I would like to get the 3.0l noble but my budget will probabley only strech to the 2.5l witch is 310bhp the 3.0l has 350bhp but the 2.5 is about 100kilos lighter so in the real world i dont think there would be that much difference

I was stuck on buying a 3.0l and drove 200 miles to an official dealers to test drive, only to find they would only take me out in a new 3R and only for 2 miles or so. Then came across a well looked after 2.5 at a specialist garage, 10 mile test drive.....sold!!
If you track one down you are interested in, ring Noble factory to check it's service history, they are extrememly helpful. Also check it's had the ECU upgrade done by the factory, if not, big expense!
Having now owned my 2.5l for 4months and 4k miles, haven't had a moments regret. Use it day to day, huge grin factor

Besides it is a blantant copy of an RS200 (not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with an RS200 mind you)
When I said as much to Mr Noble at the NEC motorshow, he was really p1ssed off, so I guess I hit home on that one

Show me a car that isn't flawed in some way or hasn't been developed from other designs........
I've yet to drive a car that gives the same adrenalin rush as the Noble, personally think Lee Noble has done an amazing job, just read the reviews...

Well I collected my Noble GTO3 kit car yesterday and had an interesting drive to work in the rain this morning....boy is it quick but it does demand respect.
Hopefully the weather will clear up and I'll be able to give it a proper shake down over the weekend.

I'll start it off
Noble M12 GTO 2.5 0-60 sub 4s 0-100 sub 10
Not quick enough??
Noble M12 GTO3.0 0-60 sub 4 0-100 sub 10
Faster?
Noble M12 GTO 3R 0-60 sub 4 0-100 sub 10
Little bit slow top end?
Noble M400 0-60 3.5 0-100 8secs dead.
Oh and did anyone mention the handling

I am not saying you can get faster - I am in no doubt they are fast, just like TVR's are fast.
BUT...you can get fast cars that give that race car feel that don't spend so long being repaired.
Not a huge fan of companies that charge huge amounts of money and then let the customer develop the car for them.

......964 RS would do me just fine.
Not faster, but will still be lapping tracks when a Noble has been melted down and turned in to next years xmas toy.
It's Friday I am drinking, and I am disagreeing with youe quote at the top of this page.......lets not lose sight of that argument.....before we move on to faster, better handling blah blah blah.

Erm, had the car 4 months, use it everyday, done 6000 miles in it already, no problems, oh and when I took it to the factory for servicing....the windscreen wipers went out of line, new parts fitted free of charge with many apologies, despite me buying this car second hand from a non Noble dealer.
Which company charges huge amounts of money? One of the points most reviews raise is that pound for pound there is very little that comes close to a Noble for pounds/performance.
