Renault 19 16v Phase 2
#2
Well I love mine. Had it just over three and a half years, will only change it when I can afford something a lot better as after test driving various other cars they just didn't do it for me (106 gti is a recent example, really didn't like it compared to my french heap).
Cab is ok looking and ncie in summer I guess, but handling is no way as good and has extra weight, also feels more sluggish. Saloon technically is the beter handler, but I prefer the looks of the hatch. Phase ones are more raw and slightly lighter.
Any questions just send me a pm, could go on for hours...

Ive had 3 19s and loved them apart from the one that needed new engine and gearbox within weeks of eachother.
If you can get one of the last execs in green.....very nice leather etc

I too have owned 3 R19's, of which one was a brand new 16v (phase 2, 93 K).
Kept it for 4 years, great fun but definately dated now
Had an annoying rattle from day one (build quality wasnt on top of renaults list when they built these cars) but apart from that, no real problems.

I had one for a few years, 94/L.
Good fun! Handled well, "adequate" acceleration for a hot hatch Engine always felt quite spritely, even after 150k miles!
Had to replace a lot of suspension bits (bearings, ball joints, springs + shocks, bushes) at around 100k miles - otherwise the car was pretty reliable too. Mine had leather seats which were about the most comfortable seats I have ever had in a car (put the subaru seats to shame!!!)
PS: I still have a set of front brake disks + pads sitting around in my shed that I never used. Thought they would be bin jobs by now but they still have their protective coating and are absolutely clean. I think they are the girling variety. If anyone wants 'em, they can have 'em free of charge - if they are willing to pick them up at a time that is convenient to me! Basingstoke area.
