Default new breed of BMW w@nker

are driving new mini's

They don't see you
They don't acknowledge you
They certainly don't give way to you

oh, and yes, to all Mini Cooper 'S' drivers

YOUR CAR IS NOT AS FAST OFF THE LIGHTS OR IN THE TWISTIES AS AN 'R' REG TURBO 2000.

phew, thank you - feel better.

if i were u i'd go and have a test drive in a cooper s m8, i've owned 2 impreza's, one totalled 52k inc mods (well known car on her m8) and i also own a cooper with s suspension

......i'm sorry to say the mini does not need brakes at turning time, its on rails m8, you really should 'wake up and smell the coffee', i love impreza's and the all wheel drive is awesome in the wet (mine had 440 proven bhp and 0-60 3.9 secs) but without money spent on suspension/geoemtry, the mini will **** all over it for fun and handling

go test drive one m8ty, you'll see how good they are. The wife drives round in ours all the time, awesome handling car........and its only a cooper 1.6 ? LOL

Straight line my p-reg celica 2.0GT matched the cooper s all the way, calculated after a proper spat with one on very tasty bit of local dual carriageway.

My impreza however, eats them.

They might handle well (havent had one on a b-road to play with yet), but there a girls car - a point and laugh at the drivers type machine - designed for Sainsbury shopping trolley pushers who drive their car the same way they push the trolley round the store - oblivious or not ar$ed about anyone else...

Amen

Not a criticisnm of the car, as I'm sure they're fine - more a criticism of the drivers (excepting your good lady of course its an arrogance, really.

I guess its the new car thing for most of them still, not used to it yet, not relaxed enough in it yet to see whats happenning on the road

Or do they have very bad visibility from the cockpit?

i will second, gadget daz, had a cooper,s before my sti8ppp, the mini is a fantastic car, you can understand why they are selling so many, was told by a friend who drives in rallys that if you got a good driver the mini would **** off just about anything on twisty roads, handling is awesome, go for a test drive you will be very surprised.

So the Skoda Fabia vRS must be the fastest car in the world then Certainly trounced the mini around Tye Croes on 5th Gear, and it's a 55mpg diesel to boot. Add an AMD chip, some springs and dampers and it should see off Petter

http://darrentiday.fotopic.net/p1912751.html

if the link works, the blue one on the left stood me at 52k, the right one cost roughly 13k brand new i think

if i wanted to go out for a "lets go looking for fun 'cause nothing round her will keep up with me" i would grab the keys to the scooby, downside was had to be driven for 10 mins b4 i could open up the 2.1 bar of boost, couldnt shoot round to the shop.....then after thraping, had to be cooled down

or, bomb round the shop with a stone cold cooper, try to see how little i could use the brakes (quite amusing you should try), ram onto drive and just turn off

............mini was more useable and more fun..................oh, and didn't do 11 to the gallon

..............................mind u, wont drive it any more now 'cause some impreza driver say's they're a girls car LOL shut up u tool

a lot of cars are fun m8, but don't knock or belittle other makes, gives impreza drivers a bad name, makes u look like u've got ur head up ur **** and u sound like the stereo type bmw driver u were calling earlier...................oh, and yes ......i do have a big ***** thank you

i now have a suzuki gsxr and go on bike forums saying how slow imprezas are m8, only kidding, but thats even more fun on a sunny day than my cars

surely its all relative? A slow car could have great handling and be great fun to drive. Doesn't make it fast though.

MX5 is supposed to be a great drive, but it isn't exactly the quickest thing out there. A lot of it is down to the feel it gives you.

It's not nice to stereotype people.

I would agree that a large number of arrogant people do buy BMWs and that many of the "new" mini owners are bought by arrogant people too. But if you'd have lived in Norfolk for the past few years, you would have been embarrassed by the snobbery of a lot of Subaru owners.

I would vote for the Mini anyday of the week for the fun factor it provides, although I do prefer the "classics" And yes, I did used to wave to those too

That's cos people have to go to BMW to buy a Mini and not Rover

I had a Cooper S for a bit last year, great engine, great handling but built like a Rover - plenty of rattles and squeaks inside. Was fun on short journeys but long journeys just did my head in (much like my classic!) after 3 weeks I couldn't wait to get my 3 series back!

My girlfiend has a peaguot 106 and I find that fun to drive sometimes especially down to the shops - but I admit its a girls car designed for supermarket parking spaces... It does 4 million miles to the gallon...

As for sterotyping - couldnt care less about the Subaru stereotype - whatever it may be - if you've experienced "snobbery" (I sincerely hope thats not just cause some dont wave at you??), then you're perfectly entitled to label us as "snobs" , I'm told my car makes me a "chav", a "boy racer", "thug" etc... Depends on the experiences of those making the statement.

My experience of mini drivers are
1) dizzy ignorant birds enganged in blinkered driving forgetting to indicate etc
2) young lads with trendy 'bed hair' styles razzing round thinking their oversized remake of a little classic is fast and cool. Shining their pi$$y little foglights at all and sundry, and comparing them to imprezas.

They may be quick on a scaled down version type way to the impreza, they may be good on twisties in a scaled down way to the impreza, they may be cheaper - and so they should be - its not a family salloon car, they be perceived as cool by many, but I dont like them and as a whole am not a fan of the drivers of them either.

Being broing as am getting old now :-)

All the Saxo/Nova/Mini/Escort etc etc etc... dont bother me, if they want to steam off the lights looking like a prize Ahole just makes me laugh, dont really bother with them to be honest, have to admit if is a Porsche/BMW/Lotus, then I do indulge in a bit of playing...

Agreed, I've had an S for two years now and it's superb to drive - but pretty crap to own. Bits rattle. You get ponses who think 'womens motor' then cut you up at roundabouts, weave past you, pull out in front of you - cause you're driving something cute.

People ALWAYS underestimate it's pace and handling - which if you're driving towards them quickly always f*cks you off no end. Plus MINI's are now getting within striking distance of the chav community - I've had badges nicked, it keyed on all four sides and finally, the rear spoiler stolen in broad daylight parked outside a shop!

It's not all bad though, depreciation - what's that?

I'm worried though at the comments about WRX's not handling as well - I thought scoobys had superb handling and steering feel? Not ordered my 05MY yet - any views from past S owners now piloting a WRX?

lol I had a s for 6 months befor emy bugeye wrx ... if you want it to be as fun as you cooper s get your hand in your pocket, get a set of springs anti rol bar and solid drop links and it will be about half as good

As Daz says a scoob is so hard to look after ( well if you mod them ) but very rewarding - I don't think I would buy another scoob but would buy another mini

but I don't want to swap just yet

Definitely not the waving thing.

I'm talking about those who think they are something special because they own a Subaru and no longer wish to talk to anyone with a car they deem not as good.

My own cousin ignored me once because she thought as I now had a Subaru I wouldn't associate with her in her Fiesta - of course she was wrong!!

Red face The white van man

Dare I mention the white van man who thinks that his van is the fastest vehicle on the road .
Anyone got any tales to tell about them.

Must admit that since getting a Scooby that they don't bother me that much (squirt and go method), but when I drive other cars they can be a pain in the boot.

Yeah that's very true, I ran a Cooper S for 2 months and made £200!!!

Although it was nearly a year since I had my Mini I can honestly say I don't think it would even come close to my classic WRX RA. To be fair they're 2 totally different cars - both of which have positives and negatives to own. But hey don't all cars??

If anyone doubts how good the mini is then I suggest a test drive is in order. The main problem with them as I see it is their lack of practicality, the price/speed ratio and the image. Who wants to look like a low level estate agent?
That said if you drive an Impreza people assume you are either a chav or a mid life crisis type. Ignore the stereotypes and look at the car for what it can do, whatever it is.

Lads lets not get carried away ! yes I have an evo 6rs2 but even so if you are telling me you scooby lot are saying that the cooper s is going to even keep close to your cars you need the hand brake off or your geometry checking because they would need 400bhp to even keep in sight of me, do not run your own cars down scoobys will pi$$ on a cooper s.......................

I had a Cooper S on order for a while, nice car but utterly gutless at the end of the day. Loads of fun around town but a standard UK turbo would pi$$ on it anywhere else out of the 30 limits.

I cancelled my Cooper S order and bought a P1 for the same money. Am i happy i did? Damn strait!

Before we got the WRX we test drove - rather, we went to have a test drive in the Cooper S, but the the as$e of a salesman wouldn't even let me have a test drive! I'd turned up in my Y reg legacy which was only a year and a bit old so it wasn't like I turned up in a Nova to have a bit of fun.

I hung around for ages before he could be troubled and he said that the waiting list was so long it wasn't worth the test drive, he'd only let me drive if I'd placed an order!!!!

A friend has one so I drove that. Not that impressed. Very cramped, even cheaper plastics than the WRX Then I test drove the WRX, no contest.
