Question CTR Using Oil ??

Just looking into getting one of these (or the TypeS) for the wife - I hear they use oil - is this a feature of the VTEC engine ?

Thanks

T.

Have heard they do up to about 12K miles, then it eases up, tho not 100% sure.

Some do some don't, depends how you drive them really. I had fully synthetic in mine and it used about 1/2litre in 4000 miles, not bad really, considering its like water!!

They don't vtec if the level go's to low, and most engine failures have been attributed to oil starvation. No oil in engine will mean no warranty so keep an eye on the level if you get one, but done worry unduely.

The earlier ones are meant to be worse 01/02.

I suppose mine get's through sumin like 1 litre every 10000 miles or so and as anc say's it's fully Synthetic and very thin, a engine thats so high revving is always gonna use a bit of oil. if u got a S2000 it says in the owners Manual to check your oil everytime u fill up with Petrol!!

Just check it every week or two to avoid nasty surprises, had a Fiat Coupe that had a poorly turbo and that was getting through a litre every couple of hundred, Fiat say a litre per 1000 miles, got rid of it as it got me paranoid about oil consumption and oil pressure so

Thumbs up

They use oil when newish, but after a few thousand miles it clears up to almost nothing.

Bought mine on 13k miles, sold it with just over 20k miles on the clock and it was driven "properly" most of the time, but used virtually no oil.

I used to check it every week at first, but soon realised it was hardly touching the stuff, so the frequency of my checks reduced and I only had to put the odd drop in there in 7k miles.
