Worst ever tyres.
Other marques 'cos this isn't my scoob thankfully.
What are the worst ever tyres you've used?
At the moment, my vote is for the Conti eco-contacts on the front of my AX GT. If they even sniff that it's going to rain, all cornering grip seems to disappear. Braking's not too hot either. They used to be on the back of the car but that was just plain dangerous. Thank you conti for stopping making sport-contact tyres in that size. I guess Goodyear will be supplying the next 4 tyres.

Got all my tyres slashed (P6000) on my old AX GT. Had top get something cheap to see me through....kuhmo. Baring in mind this was 7 years ago - Kuhmo weren't great.
They were atrocious.
Second worst were the wet weather performance of my Yokohama A510's. Dry they were great, wet they were dangerous. Goodyear Eagle F1 sorted that out.

Avons on my old MY99 turbo that it came with.
I thought i was doing something seriously wrong as they would break away for no apparent reason whatsoever apart from the fact that maybe they were bored going in one direction all the time.
Got some TOYOS and pound for pound cant find better nice progressive break away on the limit and very good wet grip

yes I take that honour LOL although I never purchased said tyres...
Always look at what make tyre you have when you buy your banger and first drive it in the wet.
I purchsed two sub £150 cars both with those tyres. One car sent me sailing into oncomming traffic when I tried turning right in the wet...just drifted into the opposite lane and went past the junction I also went to turn left into junctions and found myself going staight on when I turned, making me go past the junction (and no, I wasn't turning and braking...I know better than that). A set of Dunlops sorted the problem
The other car could wheelspin in 3rd gear in the wet, and suffered serious oversteer action.
For both braking was like trying to stop a Kart on full slicks on wet tarmac (in fact thinking about it...the karts could stop better! )

Hi have Avon ZZ1's on the M3 and although i do very little wet weather driving, in the dry they are shocking, they squeek like hell around the bends, to listen to it sounds like i over cook it like mad - disapointed to say the least !

My Scoob came from Japan with 15" Avons on the standard rims, they appeared to be originals ( car was 5 years old ) After nearly swapping ends twice in the wet I bought some 17" wheels with F1's, transformation wasn't the word !

Avon ZZ1's are awful. My other halfs Golf had them, and even she complained! LOL The worst tyres I had were Fulda Hedgefinders, err sorry, Fulda Extremo's. Horrible Horrible tyre. Thank god for Bridgestones!
I found Toyo T-1's to be poor on my STI when compared to Bridgestones. I gave them a 2nd chance on my old 330d and they were just as bad. Not impressed. Maybe the T-1R is better? It needs to be.

Camac, rubbish! Yoko A539, had my one and only crashed wearing a pair of these
Funnily enough, I've never had a problem with Kumho, I quite like them!

Kwik Fit's own brand on my wife's Micra is pretty poor. No grip in the wet and no matter how many times they try and balance the wheels, the steering wheel virbrates loads at anything above 65mph. Previous tyres (Firestones) were fine. Lesson 1. Don't ever buy kwick fit own brand tyres, no matter how cheap they are!!!

Seems to me they offer Avon ZZ1's to people in the hope that they know no better and will go for them as they have them in stock. Bought a Honda Civic VTi a few years ago and surprise, surprise it was fitted with a whole set of Avon ZZ1's

Dealer put a pair of Woosung 'Dark Horse' on the front of my Mk2 Golf GTi many moons ago. Very predictable tyre ... in that you could predict that they weren't going to have any grip whatsoever whenever you needed it!

cant remember the exact name of the ones on my scoob but the garage i bought the car off said they were a division of avon, so even worse!
going round round-abouts at normal speeds they squeel like piggys, and in the wet i dont feel confident in the slightest, could corner faster in my saxo, alot faster! car goes sideways in a straight line under full acceleration in the wet aswell! this is on a STi 2 BTW !!!
trouble is i cant afford new tyres, and they were brand new when i got it!

Not a performance tyre but the Michelin XZX has to go down as the worst tyre ever made. True, they will do about 4,000,000 miles before they need changing but so will tyres made of bakelite.
My mate used to call any crap/bald tyres 'Dunlop Kojaks'

Having had ZZ1's I was offered them in a tyre place too. I went on to say how crap they were and gave loads of reasons why and then explained the difference between them and the likes of F1's etc. I genuinely knew more about tyres than the people selling them. Suffice to say their face was a picture and understood why the order was being placed for F1's! Thing is, they must all be like this though, how many of these places have either first hand experience of the tyres or indeed have read their industries reports/group tests on them etc.
IMHO this leads to people who know no better to believe what they say and on sporty cars can be put in an extremely dangerous situation - those ZZ1's, I mean they were shocking - poor dry grip, squealed all the time, and the wet grip was near non-existent - IMHO utterly dangerous tyres aimed at the sports market.
But what can you do............... *shrugs*
Its really just like Dixons - you go to the store and know more about the product than the person trying to sell it to you.
