Default What a Nova....Supa Nova ?

I was on the motorway driving along in the 3rd lane in my Teg making some 'progress' when I came up on a fairly ordinary looking Nova. It had some alloys, slightly lowered but mainly look fairly standard. It moved over to the 2nd to let me past and then came straight out again. I thought there's a considerate driver. He then tailed me at a reasonable length (i.e. he wasn't right up my **** or nothing) and I thought it would be fun to push the pedal a bit. I didn't bother changing down to 4th, anyway I pushd it and he stayed with me all the way, I decided at just 11? (kph! of course....) to move over and he absolutely flew past me like I was going backwards.

Now I'm not griping, I realise that modded cars can be fast but has anyone any idea what sorta set up he would have needed to give it that kinda ooomph ? are we talking NOS here or summit ?

Cheers

I know there is a twin engined beast doing the rounds. You would have been pretty unlucky to come across him though. I hear 0-60 in the 3's and 4's

A Nova with an XE on carbs would probably keep up with an Integra, or atleast trouble it for a while.

Did the fastest lap at trax last year, I got a mpeg of it doing a standing start against a mod'd Skyline R34 - it lost

Still rather have a teg than a rocket powered nova that can do 0-Australia in 5 seconds thanks

As said, loads of them with the vaux 2 litre turbo lump in now.
300 bhp easily achievable.
300 bhp in C. 800kgs of tin worm tub makes for rapid straight line progress

thanks for the info guys, I thought a 2.0 litre turbo conversion might be a possibility. Yep it may be fast but I'd still rather have a Teg as well

Fair play to the guy though he drove well whilst proving his point......

It was a red one......so watch out if you're in Hampshire........

Wise words....

If you were that way inclined you could do some mad things with your teg. No doubt you've seen the mpegs of the champ. white 480bhp (odd) turbo conversion from states on a rolling road producing crazy accel and boost. Also had some of him doing 1/4 miles - very impressive. I lost them last install, otherwise I would upload. Edcase you still got those?

But why would you want 480bhp going through the front wheels? Fast straight lines are no fun! Plus the money and hassle you might as well of jsut bought a NSX-R

That said, I hear the Mugen ECU remaps are pretty tastey?

This reminds me that when I was at Santa Pod there was a drag dedicated Nova running 12s. There was a guy in a modded 360mondena and he refused to race it as he didn't want to have to tell his mates he got beat by a Nova!

LOL.

Looking around for an answer as to why it was quicker to help ease the pain? It was still a Nova. Chav was probably well happy.

I'm the crew chief for the nova, its my mate's car (featured in Redline this month), we offered the guy in the modena out for a race, he got really cocky when we said it was a nova, his mate said "no, you don't understand, its the blue one", he backed out! its doing 11.3s now, its still 8v,standard head, cam and FWD, will hopefully do a 10 in october, not bad for 3 grand including the shell! It should be going 16v over the winter, then it will be quick

Didn't you have a bang occur on the first day of Pod? Quick little thing.

The 360 only ran a 13.4 in the end?....kicked myself at passing up the opportunity.

From what I could tell it wasnt a roadlegal nova? Slicks...no interior.....petrol tank the size of a pepsi can...

Small world

It had an MOT but that was done without the hoosiers! Gone have the days of it being a road car, that fuel cell is now where the right headlight use to be for a start, the dash is no more, more weight has been taken out since the feature. I don't think it snapped a shaft that day, it must have been the throttle cable snapping

As much as I dislike novas they can be a load of fun for small money, ideal for annoying people from time to time
