Nova boys giving us stick
#1
Please *don't* go to Corsa Sport if your only intention is to tell us all how crap Novas are. The fact is that a 2 litre turbo Nova overtook a presumably standard Scooby in a straight line and someone posted about it - not even the driver of the Nova, just someone who had seen the race. Not scientific, making no mention of driver skill or will to race and certainly not something to get on high horses again about how unbeatable Imprezas are. I'm sure had some corners or a standing start been involved, we'd have had a different story.
We've done this a few times before and I don't really want the whole 'yeah the Nova is quick but' thing again.

Why *should* an impreza be necessarily better than a well sorted Nova? Weight is on their side, so might they also be able to corner in quite a handy fashion?
(I can't believe I've just typed that... )
Anyhow, has anyone else thought that we don't really need any more people against us. Why antagonise people? We'll never persuade 'em that the only true way of enlightenment is to buy a scooby, so why bother just annoying people?
I think my next car will definitely be lighter than the scoob... For examples of how to humble a scoob, look at the Civic Type-R at Donington . Comparatively speaking, that was down on power but only weighed around 800kgs...
Someone, somewhere, has a grudge and we hardly need more people targeting the board.

..or alternatively leave them to it, and get on with an adult life
PS the Courtnay 2-litre turbo conversion can easily manage 200hp and with not much work over 250hp. That in a <900kg Nova would be quick (once the wheels stopped spinning )

Big deal, boys and their toys.
somewhere out there is bound to be a V8 mini which will 'do' a scoob or even a nitros Lada . It will always be the case, Mini/Nova/whatever.
Rising to it will only make their day. Hey, fair play to him/her if they can get a Nova to beat a Scoob in a straight line, that's not really what it's about though is it.

power to weight ratios would be much in favour of the nova if it is a good one...
it would be a crap car mind... but atleast a better power to weight ratio could easily be thers.

Hi guys,
Just thought it was amusing to hear about the easy 200bhp/ fairly easy 250bhp these courtenay conversion novas supposedly have... there was a recent nova rolling road day up at powerstation... i seem to recall that the most powerful car (by quite a long way) was a courtenay 2litre turbo which pushed out 213bhp at the flywheel... It was towed home as a coolant hose split when he was giving someone a demo drive.
I had a nova gte as a runabout until very recently (mr dhl white van man having now written it off )... they are fun cars and are quite quick, even with just 100bhp/90ft lb (powerstation)... the ~830kg weight obviously helps. I am tempted to buy back the car when his insurance pays up, strip it and build a track car/rally car/fun car.

Hmmmm, so they've posted his number plate AND the fact that the observer was doing 110mph and the Nova 130mph. Obviously the Scoob was sticking to the legal limit
Now what's the telephone number for speeding offences ?

I'd not read the thread - that'll show me...
Seems like these boys are out to lose their license. I thought that there were documented cases of people being prosecuted after making a video of themselves being silly?
Still, is anyone *really* that spiteful?

The only number plate posted was a show number - P1NKY, doesn't actually belong to the car and it wasn't that car anyway.
Can we *please* stop the insults. *I* don't wear a baseball cap backwards and drive at silly speeds, unlike the Subaru driver in the story.
