Anyone got any idea when Ford are planning to release the Fiesta RS??
Love this concept car, I heard from a bloke, that knows a bloke, they're going to be priced fairly reasonably but on the track they are not a massive amount slower than the focus :O but then people say alot of things

Not guarenteed this is ever going to be released. Loads o fspeculation and even ford people saying what it could be like, but nothing definite.
I know someone who asked someone at ford the very same question and his response was they aren't going to make it!
Criminal, if they could get it right it would sell very very well.

I think thats the Focus RS your talking about hybwrx2002. I spoke to the Ford guy at the Motorshow about the Fiesta RS. He seemed to be saying that if it goes into production, it should be around the 16 grand mark with anything upto 200bhp N/A. Usual Recaro trimmings etc, climate and the like. Apparently it has beaten the Focus RS around Fords handling circuit.
Autocar is saying that if it does go into production, we will not see it until at least spring 2006. Limited to approx 5000 cars.
I think you can register your interest at www.fiestasportseries.co.uk

The Fiesta RS is a dead cert for production - just a question of time now. Spec will most likely be a N/A Duratec engine pushing 200bhp through the front wheels.
Lots of info on the Fiesta ST / RS here: http://www.fordfiestast.com/
The Focus Cosworth is entirely speculation at the moment, but Ford have dropped lots of hints. Most of us expect to see something a year or so after the next Focus launch. Info on the Focus Cosworth can be found at this site: http://www.focuscosworth.co.uk/news/

Cant see the Fiesta RS being out next year, they havent even launched the Fiesta ST150 yet, and that is already being set up in production.
And will the Fiesta RS really be more powerful than its big brother, the Focus RS ? I think not.

The Focus RS is no longer in production, so it doesn't matter if the Fiesta is more powerful. It's just progression. Ford would not limit the power unless it needed to. This car will be as quick in a straight line and around corners as is possible without adversely affecting drivability.
The Fiesta ST (no longer called ST150) will be out by late Autumn 2004. The Fiesta RS will follow roughly a year later - mid to late 2005.

Interesting thread this, but as they say, from the horses mouth:-
http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/fiesta/fie_...t_ser/-/-/-/-#
Zetec S (this autumn ), ST150, RS Concept!
All seem decent cars, zetec S a bit poor, st150 is the one to wait for i recon, RS will be a few years away yet.

I'd certainly look into getting one if they were to go into production.
However I think 230bhp is a bit optimistic, especially for a N/A motor, the focus is only 212bhp with a turbocharger on the very same engine, I think it will more likely be 180-190bhp if it goes ahead as the fiesta isn't too big or heavy a car anyway.

I think 230bhp is unlikely myself. I would expect around 200bhp from a naturally aspirated Mondeo Duratec lump.
Ford haven't officially announced the production of the Fiesta RS, but that doesn't mean there's any doubt over production - just a question of timing and PR. Ford announced production of the Focus RS very early, and got criticised for the lengthy delay before it hit showrooms. They don't want to repeat that mistake with the Fiesta.
Should be a great little car. I'd certainly consider getting one to replace my Focus RS if the spec turns out to be decent.

I can see this being like the focus cosworth that was suppsoedly going ot appear but kept getting delayed.
And 230bhp in standard trim is rediculous for a fiesta, remember ford now aren't going for ***** out power but go for handling. I think max 200 is more likely, but will expect anything 180-200 realistically.

I did see this car at the Geneva Motor show, possibly coming out early next year?
The engine was likely to be a 2.0 16v unit producing around 180 bhp.
It is supposed to rival pug 206 RC and Clio Sport.
Car looks amazing in the flesh!
Swiss prices between 35-40K francs (16K-18K pounds!)
Plums.

found the article back where I've read that,
In Auto Express dated 7-13 July - Issue 814 it states the following:
...And ultimate Fiesta is ready to power in - with 230bhp!
HIGH-performance Ford fans will also be keen to learn the Fiesta RS is well on the way to the showrooms - and with more power than first thought.
A Ford test driver exclusively revealed to Auto Express that the supermini will blow away its rivals with more than 230bhp. When the Fiesta RS Concept debuted at March's Geneva Motor Show, bosses said it would have at least 180bhp - but our insider revelaed "it will be a lot faster and more powerful than we suggested".

I think they'd be daft as a brush not to make an RS fiesta, power to weight ratio make super mini's great little chuckers, and well the alternatives are all a bit boring now, clio, cupra, civic - yawn!
Bring on the fiesta I say, especially if it looks like that piccy (thanks for fixing link btw)
I also heard they're actually going to be reletively cheap, but I can't see them pitching it for less than the comp, so I reckon £16k sounds about right, and frankly if they can make a 230bhp cheaper than that you'd be worried. OKAY renault can make a brut for £13k, and MG modestly make a half decent hatch for less then 10k, but you wouldn't wanna high millage one would ya!
