Default REYLAND Escort Cossie...proper video

a lot of ford owners who never got to see/experience Martin H's Reyland Escort Cosworth in action wanted to see a proper video to give them an idea of what it was capable of.

so i have put a new video on www.drivetoish.co.uk which was filmed at bruntingthorpe in 2003

although not shown on the video this was the day the escort did the following times on lower boost and not the best of road tyres:-

0-60 mph - 2.88 seconds
0-100 mph - 6.06 seconds
1/4 mile - 10.66@139.95 mph
100-150 mph - 6.97 seconds
top speed - 194.7 mph

having been lucky enough to go in the escort many times i will never forget it as it was a missile on 4 wheels. brought a MASSIVE grin to my face everytime i went in it. everything about it was spot on. N56 KVS/L70ONY is an absoloute LEGEND

hopefully this video will give people who never got to see it in action a small idea of what it was about

I was there when this video was recorded, the car is uttlerly mental & Martin is crazy as well.

Was an great expeiance watching the cossie eat everything on the track that day, it sounded awesome too

The top speed run started from about 10m away from me, it's incredible seeing it go, looks like a rocket.

Anyway hope Martin & car get sorted soon

Amazing stuff !

Just a couple of questions,

I appreciate the fact that the car has been crashed/damaged but what were the circumstances and was Martin ok ?

What was the guy spraying into the front of the car, I am assuming it was some kind of cooling mist for the IC.

How does that car fare against the Rocket Ronnie Skyline ?

They were in the Gumball 3000 Eupoean thingy

They were down in Morocco (africa) for that stretchmost people seem to say they were doing 160 mph plus (unconfirmed though) & the car rolled approx 4 times.

Apparently the passenger was thrown from the car mid crash & was quite badly hurt requiring 100 stitches

They are out of hospital now, trying to get the car back.

Thats all I know.

How does it compare to Rocke Ronnie? Well, Ronnies has done a 10.4 or 10.3 1/4 gone on to do 209 mph so in a straight line its 'pretty' even (power to weight & all that).

On track I would expect the Reyland car to have the edge (as thats what it'e designed for)

Great car - hope they are OK and get the car back with the minimum of fuss.

Scary stuff, thrown from the car at 160. Would imagine the car is just bits, hopefully they will come back faster than ever.

I find it so hard to believe that only days after an accident like that there is already talk of the car coming back Martin is a real loon (as most will already know) if he achieves this

If anyone knows how to build a car or cossie for that matter then it's Martin

Ish; Does/ did Martin have a unit down in Digbeth in Brum ?? If so I used to trade (via a 3rd party) with him and have been out in one of his Escort cossies, think its the same bloke as I used to see a Ryland cossie in K.Norton quite frequently a year of two ago.

Cheers mate, thought it was him, he took me up the A435 bypass in one of the cossies, and we got it wheel spinning clear through to 120mph+, with the biggest line of tyre marks Ive ever seen
