Question Which diesel???

Guys,

Looking to change our Focus 1.8 Zetec for a turbo diesel of some description.
Want something in either 5dr hatch/ 4dr saloon guise for wifes daily commute, shopping trips etc and has to be 2 yr/old daughter friendly! Would also like something with manufacturers warranty left and lower the mileage the better, got up to £12k to spend including the focus.

Any ideas??

Test driven a few versions of the new megane (all of which rattled inside), a seat leon 110tdi (seemed very nice) and a focus tdci (nice drive but after hassles with current one i'm a bit wary).

Need to change soon, focus due major service and the money for thats going on optimax for the Subaru!!

Any thoughts/ experiences appreciated.

Cheers, KGB.

m8 I bought a clio dci 80 on a 52 plate... and its fantastic... i was doing 600+ miles a week sometimes in my My03 STi and needed a diesel... believe me its all the car you'll need... bang on.. the fuel consuption is amazing...
Really good on the m-way... put it this way I came out of a 330 BM and the ride is almost as good... you don't feel like your in a small car. and i did 130k in two years in the BM...

the clio was £440 to insure with no- no claims... £80 pa tax and it does get this 60mpg all the time...
i drove leeds to Glasgow- Edinborough- leeds- mother inlaws.. home... 542 miles... @ 75-80 mph and filled it up the next day... £31.39 thats 61mpg...

Try 1 m8... best real world cheap to run car...

or and it was 7k

Cheers Dazza!

Sisters friend has a clio, might try all the kit a 2 y/o demands you take everywhere in the boot and see how it goes!

How'd you rate the 330D? Not likely to get a low mileage 1 for cash i've got but have seen 320d's around that figure. Think they are worth the wedge?

You can get a brand new fabia vRS for less than £12000, 5 doors, good equipment levels, decent performance, plus a full 3 year warranty.

Thinking of getting one myself.

Fabia is terrific value.

Octavia is worth a look if you need more room. 130PD has been out for over a year now as well. Rave reviews of Jabbasport's remapping of this engine in either car.
