Evo V vs STi 3
Lookin at buying something quick as a weekend car, recently drove an Evo V (13750 pounds) and an STi 3 (8495), both standard cars.... Evo definitely handled better but was very surprised to find the Scoob felt considerably faster in a straight line. Expected the Evo to feel quicker...maybe it was quicker but didnt feel it ?

I've always thought that the power delivery on the STI's gives a real sensation of acceleration, whereas the Evo's deliver it much more smoothly....a healthy standard Evo5 should kill a standard STI3 in pretty much every department...apart from sound LOL

Out of the box, straight line performance wise, there is really bugger all in it. An evo V has about 20lbs/ft more torque, but the scoob is a couple of hundred kilos lighter, which easily negates that. Evos are arguably more tuneable, although you can get BIG power out of an Sti3.
Evos are easier to drive fast as the AYC does a lot of the work for you, and they are quicker around a track. But, I find Scoobs more fun, but that's just me. I've always though the Evo-Scooby debate may be compared to the difference between Alfas and BMWs, if the Alfa was rear wheel drive with the Bimmer being the Evo obviously. An Evo, like a BMW is objectively the best on paper, but they always feel a little clinical and soul-less to me, in large part due to the engine note. I, personally, prefer Scoobs. You should try them both and decide for yourself.

Maybe, but they run out of petrol after 15 miles, and after the poor owner has had to jog to the garage to get some more fuel, filled up, and then driven a further 25 miles, it needs another service!
