I don't like the rear. It looks like Chris Bangle(of BMW 7 and 5 series infame) has had a hand in it. I much prefer the 996

I don't like the rear either, it looks like the lights are too small... and the front... surely putting indicators in the bumper is a step backwards, are they really that desperate to have round headlights again?

The rear lights have tape round them to make them look smaller.

It's a good point, davyboy. I know both share the Ferdinand Porsche DNA, but this is going too far

I personally like it, it's a sort of return to the 993 styling, which was infinitely better than it's slab sided replacement. At least they've binned the Boxter/Cayenne headlight clusters & gone back to proper ones

Prefer the 996 model range but if someone would be kind to buy me a 997 I certainly wouldn't say no !

The Boxter Coupe looks pretty smart though, if the spyshots are to be believed.

They claim that these spyshots are all photos - err, have a look at the VW Golf Cabrio. About as real as Jordan's breasts.

If it's just the lights, I'm happy. The overall shape of the 996 -- particularly the side profile -- has grown on me to the extent that the 993 now looks outdated to me.

Still, it would be better if it was aircooled

Thumbs up

you mean oil cooled, a 996 is aircooled, just that it uses water and not oil to disperse the heat Its all a bit of snobbery to be honest. I'd say the later 993's had a great sound versus the 1st generation 996's but the latest generation 996 with sport exhausts sound absolutely fantastic. Don't mention the difference in maintenance costs either....

"aircooled" and "watercooled" are pretty industry-standard terms
