Question Car choices; I could do with some advice please chaps

OK

I had a MY00 which I ran for 3 years, did 90K miles and it didn't miss a beat. I then got a 528 auto which is great for long distance cruising (that's the majority of my driving) and it's not bad at hustling along when needs be but I do miss that squirt and point stuff the scoob was so good at.

I want to go back to something like the scoob and am thinking along the Octavia RS/Seat Leon Cupra/Golf Gti lines. These seem to be good value, low running costs and scope to increase performance through re-maps etc. I don't want to spend more than £13K.

Whatever I go for needs to have 4 doors for business. I'm not going back down the scoob route so what do you reckon?

Cheers
Kav

Do not buy a Golf - they are ****e. I had an early 1.8T and it was very poor quality. I sold it within 2 months.

Octavia RS is a good option, well priced, looks tough, easily tuned.

If you want squirt and point then I suggest you get an old AC Cobra or a 3 litre Capri. Think most cars are built for point and squirt these days, less accidents.

Another vote for the Skoda, especially in Black. I was seriously considering buying one before madness gripped me and I bought an old M3. Took it for a test drive and was impressed. Add a remap and you have a real Q car.

Does anyone know if all VRS' had the drive by wire throttle- as far as 1.8T VAG motors go this is the one to have.
