Default A4 avant 1.9tdi 130 or 320d touring

there's not much in it price wise.
Looking for a 2001 ish car and would remap/chip either.
Can't decide.
Saw a nice A6 as well - slightly cheaper for the same age.
Anyone made this decision already shed any light.
They all look reasonable performance if remapped to 180ish bhp.

Wink

My preference would be the BMW largely because it's RWD.

Cheers

yes they're supposed to drive better but don't know if rwd is an advantage in the real world - her in doors will drive it more than me.

I've had both(estates) and currently have the A4. There is not much in it with regards to refinement and ride etc. I think the Audi is a bit better looking inside and the BM is a bit quieter. I don't like the front wheel scrabble of the A4 on roundabouts but also had problems with the BM in the snow(could be fixed with snow tyres). Never looked at the BMW tuning side but plenty of easy and removable options on the A4 side. I've not done anything as its OK to drive in standard form. After having driven a scoob,BMW 523 and then a porker the mileage on the A4 is just astounding, I did 1150km's last week on a tank, with a ski roofrack. I had an alfa 2.4JtD for a week last month and it was much faster than the 1.9tdi but handling was not as good round corners.....I'd drive them, its too close to decide without your personal opinion.

BTW I have A4 Multitronic and its great, figures 0-62 are faster for Auto than manual I think.

I have a Type R Scoob for fun and a A4 TDI 130 Sport Avant for work.

Have done 55K miles of truly enjoyable driving in the audi over the last 2 yrs.
Very refined , very smooth and returns consitantly 43-46mpg sat on the motorways at the wrong side of a 100mph most of the time.

Audi just has a better look and feel IMO.
Read the latest report and having driven the competition, simply dont agree with some of the comments. All cars ended up with 4 out of 5 though.
Agree that the A4 is tight in the back seats and has the smallest boot, but thats not that important to me...........Just prefered the look of the Avant to the saloon.
