Skoda RS vs Impreza UK
As above really had a play with one the other night.
Standing start from traffic lights accelarated behind him upto 40 (40 zone) them let him go after that not worth loosing me licence.
Seemed to accelarate very quickly from standing start. Didnt shake me mind you ;-) - MY00 with PPP
Just wondering if anyone has been in battle with one on private road or track?? Have to admit they are very nice cars indeed.

Unmapped I presume they are a fair bit slower than a UK Turbo judging by my experience. Great VFM car and quick when remapped.
I've got an old scooby ECU equipped wagon that can convincingly beat a VRS from a standing start up to 160kph or thereabouts. I'm happy to report that I showed a 147GTA the way from some traffic lights as well- straight into some sweeping bends. He eventually caught up some minutes later after I'd stopped.
Don't you just love old cars with a decent power/weight ratio?

Mine was never much cop off the line, FWD just isn't much good for it Once rolling, much nicer, get it to 100+ and aerodynamics were in my favour. Mind you just prior to it being sold it only had a meagre 316BHP, oh and 9% transmission loss
Not me though, as I've swapped it for an Octavia SDI

Or if you are remapping and into modding suspension etc, the 4x4 Octavia has the identical engine to the vRS only detuned for marketing reasons.
From personal experience the 4x4 0-60 with 220bhp (many are running more) is about the 6.5 mark but in-gear is very deceptive - I'd say marginally better than my 99MY was before I Tek 2'd it.
I've nothing but praise for the Octavia. My 4x4 needs uprated brakes and suspension to deliver Impreza matching driving, but the rest hasn't been the gamble I thought it would be after 6 Subarus.

I was incredibly sceptical after being used to 30bhp gains being typical territory for safe remaps on my Imprezas. Nothing but praise for Jabbasport a year later - I asked them for a very safe remap - and got 220bhp. Others are seeing 230-235 fairly regularly.
It depends what car you are coming from, but I feel fairly well qualified to give an honest pros and cons comparison with the Subarus I've owned
Costs a fortune LESS to run as well without going diesel.

excellent I meant a Saab in the previous thread btw
so lets get this straight,70bhp from a "safe" remap? have you had any problems at all? any warranty probs? (i assume you havent got any decals on it )

The only other addition I have is a heavy duty dump valve - not for extra noise but because the standard plastic Bosch one is known for failing. With some ancilliary differences, the engine is the same lump as the original 210bhp Audi S3 engine, which later became 225bhp like the TT.
Both of these engines have been moddified upwards for several years to 260 /265bhp with regularity.
I've rechipped/remapped many cars, and the approach from Jabbasport was top notch. Over 20 runs on the 4x4 rolling road to get the settings just right (compared with 3 runs with my last Subaru) and the option to talk about your preferences. I chose max torque lower in the rev range over top end power on super unleaded. The car is eminently driveable and totally stealthy.
