Default Just been to Mitsi dealer looking at FQ330

There is a dealership about 100 yards from my house and seeing the FQ330 i thought I would pop in and have a chat......

Dealer comments

Car is as FQ300 but with bigger kick in the back, uses piggy back ECU

4,500 mile service interval includes active yaw adjustment at least.

Prices vary from £200 to £600 per service. (thats alot of money per year !!)

FQ330 prices are currently negotiable. FQ cars being pushed by dealer as new MR range are due out soon. He has demo in silver now and one in yellow which will be going onto demo fleet in next few days.

Slight blind eye taken for track use, dependant on what you break.

No mods what so ever allowed.

Nothing particulaly surprising there, but the guy was friendly, seemed pretty knowledgeable and will take me for a test drive whenever I like. Thats a rare breed in car sales these days me thinks?

Go for the FQ300,which is putting out about 320hp/310lbs,the 330 has had a few probs with fuel cuts,im waiting till the 330 becomes a re-map,the extra money for the 330 isnt worth it,spend the difference on getting the FQ300 up to 350 at least!! my FQ300(standard at the mo)would leave my STI7 PPP without to much trouble, completly different league!(both great cars!!!!)

You do not adjust the AYC you change the fluid at each service. Cost for this ranges from about £80 upwards

Nellie

FQ 300 makes around 301bhp and 305lb/ft hence the name.

If you are seriously interested check out Autoebid. They can source an brand new FQ-300 from a UK dealer for £25845 on the road.

EVO 39,just going by what my RR figures said and what quite a few owners on MLR have said, and a certain well respected dealer who has had 2 or 3 330s and the same 300s on a RR with the 330 putting out 350ish and the 300 putting out 315-320,when the GSRs are FQd Mitsi tend to be conservative with their figures where as subaru tend to to be optimistic with theirs, put my STI7 PPP on a RR at least 3 times in all different conditions the figures ranged between 289hp and 297hp which i know is pretty good but not the 305ps Prodrive have quoted, and you have to agree that evos are a lot easier to safely tune, mine gave out those figures without a de-cat either.

Evo .....

I realise the FQ300 makes 300BHP and the FQ330 makes 330. Perhaps i didnt make my comment clear. It was the 330 I was looking at and the dealer said its an identicle car to the FQ300 but with a piggy back ECU pushing power to 330BHO hence FQ330..

Sorry i also didnt make it clear about the service, I previously thought it was simply a level top up but the dealer made it clear that its more than just that. Mind you £80 isnt too bad, i must admit.

I wasn't looking to buy the car, just never tried one and you never know I might be swayed after a drive, impulse buy etc.

Question

So.................with the servicing at 4500 mile intervals, are they playing the old "it has to be 4 and a half months or 4500 miles or whichever comes first" card?

This really gets up my nose. It's a total waste of money, and just a scam for dealers to make even more profit. I mean, does the yaw control fluid REALLY degrade as fast as that? And if uit does, isn't it about time a different one was used???

The price Autoebid are quoting is nothing more than a guide line price they are suggesting you should tender as an offer to buy,if a dealer matches it, then a sale may be agreed and autoebid charge their fee. There is no certainty you will be offered a car at that price, what is more lkely is one or more than one dealer may offer a car at a new price. You have the option to then select the dealer with the best counter offer, again you will need to pay a fee if you proceed with the sale.
All slightly misleading IMHO, although it may work well I have not tried it.

Tried a FQ-300 last August. Yes, it IS in a different league. As C says, the Mitsi is just less compromised as a driver's car. Every Scoob owner should try one sometime...

The Evo 7/8 are without a shadow of a doubt a better handling car out of the box compared to a STi 7/8, anyone who says otherwise are lying.
I have spent over £500 on my STi 7 with Prodrive springs, anti lift kit and anti-roll bar and it's still not as good as a standard Evo. If it wasn't for the fact the Sti was £2000 cheaper, less servicing and a bigger fuel tank I would have bought a Evo 7.
At least the fuel tank size has been increased on the Evo 8 but the servicing and higher price over an STi is still the same.

I know an Evo 7 owner, has just had a new clutch at 6000 miles, and that will be £700 please sir.
Aparently thats considered "normal"...
I do appreciate that they are superior to a scoob... but at what cost...plus the 4500miles service interval....
Jes... its like running a ferrari...
The relatively low buying cost... doesnt mean that its a "cheap" car to run.

IMHO... a scoob is a better compromise(ie I can afford to run and maintain one)

because the evo scored 10 out 10 in 2 areas (handling/power) but the 540 scored 8 out of 10 in every area......for me getting the evo would be like buying a house in a council estate just because it had a pool!

(mitsi dealer was still very good though...nearly as good as BMW in fact and miles ahead of subaru)

I ran an Evo 6 for 28,000 miles on the original clutch and for 15,000 of those miles it had over 350bhp. Just don't expect it to last more than 6,000 miles if you try to get off the line like Schumacher...
