Default Cheap brake parts for 02 mini one

Looking to find a cheap supplier of brake disks and pads for a 02 mini one.
The BMW garage quoted me £108 pounds for the parts ie: two discs and a set of front pads.
Must be able to get these cheaper elsewheren anyone got any suggestions.
I have had a look on eurocarparts.co.uk who used to be quite cheap, but have come out more expensive than the main dealer! There was also a mention of some brake pad sensors?
Are these a seperate thing from the pads or built in, and would they need replacing with each set of pads?

Thanks

Dan.

£108 sounds quite reasonable to me. How many miles have you done to do in a set of discs already?

It's done 31000 miles, i would have thought that was quite quick for such a small car to eat a set of discs and pads, but when it got back from the dealers i checked myself and there is quite a deep groove on the surface of the discs. The mini must run quite hard compound pads as standard to rip through that much disc surface in that mileage.

To say thats from a dealer that seems like a very good price. I have just checked eurocarparts.com, and front pads are £37, and each disc is about £30, and then you need to add VAT and delivery to it.

I don't think the MINI is that small and certainly not light. IIRC it's only about 100Kg lighter than a classic scoob. 31K miles out of pads sounds reasonable if you drive reasonably quickly,

£108 sounds reasonable enough. I paid £424 from BMW for front disks and pads for my M5! LOL Funnily enough that was at about 31000 miles too!

Matt

Edited to day that the brake sensor should pull off the back of the pad OK. It'll only be on one side IIRC, and it's usually the front nearside and rear offside. The sensor is about £9 if bought as an extra. Be careful when removing it as the metal "U" shaped clamp that holds the wire to the disk can either ping off or break.

That really cheap for a set of genuine disks and pads! The mini is a heavy car too, it's a lot bigger and heavier than it looks.

You don't always need a new sensor with new pads, is your warning light on on the dash? If it is you will need a new one.

Can't believe you want to put non genuine discs/pads on a nearly new car, I'd be very wary buying a new MINI with non BMW parts fitted, when MINI parts are so cheap from the dealer...

thanks for the comments guys, have got one more trade contact to try for a better price, but i think i will prob end up buying from the dealer.
It just makes me wince knowing what sort of a markup they put on these things, especially if you arn't going to be paying their labour charges!

Oh and R&M, could you tell the diffence between genuine and non genuine BMW brake pads from a visual inspection whilst they were fitted??? Don't think so. Most of these sort of products come from specialised manufacturers anyway and just have the appropriate companies names printed on them and the obligitary 25% price hike.

Thanks all.

Dan.
