Put diesel in my 1.9 GTi
Hi Guys,
Just a quickie - I put £8 worth of diesel in my Pug last night in a BP garage (not as stupid as it sounds more info here)
Got dropped off at home by the AA last night.
The car has no cat, so I reckon I should be OK will draining the fuel tank via the fuel pump, then brimming it with petrol.
Luckily I ordered a new fuel filer from autofive yesterday - should be here at lunchtime.
Question is - do I need to change the engine oil and filter too?
The exisiting oil has only done 1000 or so miles.
The AA man suggested putting half a bottle of paraffin on top of the diesel to "help clean out the engine"...
Is this rubbish?

Parrafin...not heard that one! Wouldn't risk it with and efi engine - you don't want any seals etc on the injectors/pipework to perish because of it.
Better off pouring in some fuel system cleaner (halfords etc.), and change the fuel filter too.
There should be no need to change the engine oil/filter. Especially if you haven't actually run the car for any large distance with it in.
