Default Golf TDi.....which one?

I seem to see shed loads of Golf TDi about...so i presume they must have something going for them and they seem to be pretty nippy too.
Has anybody had any experiece with them? Do they do over 50mpg? and is there a TDi model thats any quicker or sportier then others.

thanks for your help.

I suppose the 'ultimate' Golf TDi would be the Anniversary model. 150bhp, 18" alloys and nicer trim, this would be the one to go for, pref with good spec such as leather, xenon's etc.

Failing that, the standard TDi 150, again, with the best spec you can find.

The PD150 is the one to go for but, if you want a better version of the same car, get the Leon Cupra PD150 instead...

my brother has just ordered a cupra TDi 150 with met. paint and cruise for under £15k.....i have driven the gof and the leon and i cant see why you'd pay extra for the golf? and with the updated cupra front end it looks better and has a better cool/cult status. (although neither are exotic )

Personally I'd get the 130 and specify lots of extra kit for the difference between that and the 150. Now that the new golf is out you should get a good price. Next take the 130 to Revo who will remap it and give you a device to switch between remap mode and bogo standard mode (about £600 all in). Now your 130 will have 190bhp and more torque than you can shake a stick at

I'd buy the 130 or 150 but for the money they cost used I would buy either a new Fabia vRS or demo Octavia / Leon/ Toledo with the same 130 engine.

As Saxo mentions, the 'safe potential' for tuning the 130 is pretty much as good as the 150. Both AMD and (my preference) JabbaSport are re-mapping the 130 to 180+ and 300+lb/ft.

I''ve had a fair few cars tuned / chipped / remapped and Jabba have been about the best I've experienced on my 1.8T (VAG) Octavia.

We have a 130 (gt) TDI (company car)

Its a nice "normal" car, couldent live up to the demands of a scoob or my westfield.

But is quick enough, and very cheep to run. Nice build quality.

We do quite abit of high mileage in it and its a very nice car to do so in.

Would i buy one for 14k?

No, as said above there are other cars just as nice for less dosh.

But this one was free, and id give it a 8/10 score (based of its role), I cant think of many cars that would do its job better for the running costs and build quality, just some do it cheeper.
