So the only differneces between the VAG 110BHP diesel and the 150BHP diesel is a remap??

Nope.

Different size injectors/nozzles, oil cooler, intercooler, possibly turbo. Remapped 110 will go to about 145, remapped 130 will go to about 190.

But I'm not really a diesel chappie.

The 110 and 130 are quite similar internally, but the whole pump & injection system is completely different (110 is direct injection, 130 uses the PD pump-injector method), as is the turbo (IIRC PD130 has a Garrett VNT17, the 110 has a VNT15).

The 150 uses stronger conrods and cylinder head studs to cope with the additional stresses.

also you can get 5-speed and 6-speed as well....
