Hello all jsut some help if possible.

In the new year I'm hoping to get a scooby but I'll need a second car to commute to work and the longhaul trip From London to Crewe every weekend.

Has to be diesel (or maybe LPG?) nothing smaller than a Golf and most important of all Cheap as chips but with some mod-cons

Cheers

MKD

How much you think you will have to spend??

Cause that will kind of determine what you can look at as possible options!!

Cheers,

I think a Pug 406 is the way to go. Good for high mileages (taxi drivers use them), good suspension and body control, climate control, etc.

2.1 TD if you can find one, 1.9 TD otherwise.

Cheers carl. Been looking in autotrader and alike but no 406 diesel as yet. Has anyone had or know someone who has had a LPG car? Diesels I'm fine with coz that's what I'm driving now it just needs to be bigger than what I have

Well actually I couldn't find one either, so I ended up getting a 2.0 petrol. Did 35 mpg, but was around £1500 cheaper than an equivalent-aged diesel one.

I have seen some saab's converted to lpg in the trader recently which could be the way to go but for a few grand the mileage will be high...
