Celica- non starter
#1
Went out to my car this morning and it wouldn't start(TW@T). Gonna have a look in the morning but could do with some tips or ideas. Car is a '93 Celica. Engine is turning over but not catching, fuel gauge is showing 1/4 full. Was fine when I parked it last night.
Any help gratefully recieved.

Hmm - the only time my Celica failed to start was when the battery was low on charge (was selling it at the time - hadn't driven it for a couple of weeks).
Made a nasty clicking noise... started via jump-leads off my other car. Mine was a 91 model with the pop-up lights.
Got any more info on your guess as to why it isn't firing up, or what it sounds like etc?

Mine has pop up lights too and has never let me down 'til today. I think the battery is ok cos i was trying to start it for ages.Starter motor is turning the engine quickly, sometimes think its about to catch but it doesn't. Could it be fuel pump?
Thanks

It's difficult to tell if it's the fuel pump on these, as on some Celicas they only run whilst cranking or when the engine is running (i.e it DOES NOT run when the ignition is turned on - like most other cars).
The fuel pump can be run to test it works (and the relay) by bridging 2 of the connectors on the service connector (somewhere under the dash- I think it has a cap on it labelled "check"). You also use it to get the fault codes to flash up on the dash.
Unfortunatley I can't remember which pins you need to bridge
