I need set 15" steel rims Audi A4 2.5 quattro
#1
I need to put my snow tyres on, but since changing cars the old rims do not fit. The tyres are 15" but the wheels touch the brakes. since they are alloys i am hoping the steels may have more clearance.
I know on the continent they use 15" on the quattros as i have seen them being used. My Audi is a 2001 2.5Tdi Quattro.
I will try the local Audi dealer, but they will probably charge a fortune. Alternatively i need to know the size of rim that fits or a decent Audi bulletin board where i can ask.
Thanks
Alan

Don't understand why you are going to the cost of 15" wheels and tyres. Have you upgraded from the std 16" Competition wheels or is it the current shape on 17"s ?
I owned the exact same car (2000) and had it on 16" Comps before upgrading to 17" S4 wheels. The Audi dealers had no idea to be honest when I took it on a couple of ski-ing trips. They said snow chains would not fit the 17"s but if you go to snowchains.co.uk etc then they have slimline chains to use in the Ski areas if the Gendarme are out and about.
On tyres, get in touch with a few of the on-line tyre traders - blackcircle, mytyres, etyres, or call Micheldever and see what they can get you at a discount.

Badly worded request.
I already have a spare set of 5 x 15" winter tyres and alloys from my last car. Even after 2 trips to Poland they are still near enough 'as new'.
I don't want to start buying new tyres when the others are good enough. Problem is the alloys will not go on the front as they touch the brake caliper. What i need are steels that MAY fit, but what size?

Poland - now I understand !
Sorry can't help but aren't you going to be spending a fair whack on wheels just to make the tyres fit ?
I seem to remember Audi listing the winter tyre fitment size - if this shows 15" wheels for the quattro then yes, go to your dealer and ask them to speak to Audi technical to tell you which wheels are appropriate. If you find out what they're off, then you could go to a VW/Audi breakers and get a set.
I still think that as brake clearance (and suspension on the quattro - the rear is independent remember) is an issue, that it may be better to stick with the standard 16" wheels (I assume), buy some cheap winter tyres and flog your current 15" set complete now ?

Mine are 5 stud.
I will check the size tonight. What I'm hoping is the 15" steel wheels have a greater clearance and i can then pick up a set from skoda/vw/audi breakers. All the A4/A6 quattros in germany run on 15" steels to allow for the extra height profile of the winter tyre.
Thanks for all the help so far.
