In amongst the many local tuned beasts, every now and again you see something really special. Not just Ferrari or Lamborghini special, but Porsche Schuppan 962 "let's stick indicators and number plates on a Le Mans car and drive it about through the heaviest traffic system in the World" special.
I think I want one of these...

Thanks TBMEach,
I posted poorly, and was still figuring out when you sorted it for me. Now I can concentrate on saving my yen for a car like that. Should be good for purchase in 2095 at the current rate.

need some people with "in the know" here please!
are these cars really that small or is it a photoshop job? It's not that much longer than the Honda Jazz next to it and the wheels aren't very big for a Porsche.
It does look very nice though!

Mark,
No idea mate, but it did say 962 on the number plate! As to whether it's a Dauer, i don't think so. I think it's more likely that the body spec is closer to the original racing car than the highly modified later ones. I think I prefer it, myself. It might even ba an ex-racing car, recycled for popping down the shops in. Old beaters, I love 'em.
It really does look small, doesn't it? Then again, Le Mans cars don't have to be very tall or have big cockpits.
Cheers

That looks like the 962 but remember the Daur versions had 720bhp on the road versions so driving one on the track would be pretty intimidating let alone in Tokyo at rush hour - never mind the squillion pound price tag....
Also LeMans cars are pretty dinky - it's either a very good copy or the real McCoy owned by someone with more money than sense.
Look on the cover of Evo about 3 months ago and they drive one.

It will be a Schuppan 962. He produced two versions, the 962CR which is shown above, and he also built a version which looked exactly like the 962 race car.

I came across a 917 on the road in France a couple of years ago taking part in a semi-race. Seemed to be historic racing cars being driven slowly by gentlemen racers ... all except the 917.
Several things
(1) It's very LOUD
(2) It's very small
edited to add: this was a closed road, and the car was on no way road legal!
(3) It's MASSIVELY fast, just awesomely so. Seeing this thing accelerate from perhaps 20mph to some awesome speed then brake back to almost walking pace, all within 300 meters or so redefined speed for me.

Reffo is right

After a bit of digging I found that Schuppan made 4 CR's and 1 962LM. Which is the car you see above. Very rare beast indeed.

Sorry

Some of you are correct, its a 962LM. The 962CR I can't remember how many were built 4 I think but my boss has two. They were built under our offices in High Wycombe and when they get there half yearly start up, you can't even make a telephone call its so loud!
