Anyone know the full stats for one of these?!
I want:
0-60
0-100
1/4 mile
Top Speed
My sneaky mate has had one on order for a few months now and not told anyone, but he got it at weekend.
They were all snapped up straight away apparently and he got £5k's worth of extra's on it too, so this is a car he could well make a bit of money on if he's wise.
Just wanna know how quick it is before I even attempt to have a crack at him and get wasted!

Found most of what I needed now...
0-60 = 5.8secs
0-100 = 14.2secs
1/4 Mile = 14.1secs @ 100mph
Speed = ?
Knowing that I'd actually have a pop at him on a drag strip now!

They only released the more expensive model at first which is £4k more than the base model, plus you have to take the £1000 wheels upgrade (to same size as standard ) so that makes £5k
All you get is leccy leather seats and a big stereo for that and it's nudging £29k. I didn't order one as I think £29k is too much and I haven't seen one in the flesh yet. The £24k model is much better value though.

I seen a gold coloured one being driven hard yesterday, I tried to keep up in the Nivara pickup but lost him on the straights and around bends. Caught up at PC World It was very very nice to look at.

Agree though that the base model is much better value as it has exactly the same mechanical spec and whips an RX8 for only £2k more
I was stupid enough to go for the GT pack as I wanted one of the first ones

Nice to see the pricing issue has been clarified.
Interesting comment. I ordered an RX-8 last week and yesterday actually got a test drive. Cancelled my order straight afterwards.
The RX-8 is a nice car waiting for a new engine. The people that voted it engine of the year must of been on a bigger backhander than the people that award the Olympic games.
Sure its great that the engine revs to nearly 9000 revs, but the power delivery is straighter than a German Autoabhn. No kick in the back and even though the speed is deceptive, this just feels like a 0-100 in 18secs car. Its performance is very much in line with a Cupra R or similar. There was also a lack of character from the engine. No sound that made you want to drop a cog to just hear it go through the rev range. As for the mpg that people are getting !!, even the yanks are complaining. The mpg I could live with if it delivered the grunt. My old R32 certainly shows the RX-8 how its done.
The rest of the package makes for a great family saloon. No other car comes close. Looks great, practical, unique and will do well come resale time (although Mazda want to sell 6000 a year, which is steep). It nice that people have an alternative to an A4 1.8T or base 3 series. In this sector it will do well, but not as a real performance car.
Off to test drive the 350Z tomorrow. If I like it, one will be on the drive next week.

He should have got an RX-8 IMO

Just to add that Jonathan is one of 3 or 4 people who are thinking of cancelling their RX8 orders in favour of 350Zs. As far as I know, no-one is doing the opposite
I reckon that says something

Well, I've been out in it now and it's grown on me...
Not overly keen on the gold paintwork and orange interior, but once you get past that it is a great car!
Looks good, sounds superb and goes quite well too!
Do prefer the look of the RX-8 though, but of course looks aren't everything...

which you can also do to RX8 which will give a kick in the back Yes i agree it possibly deceptive in its speed but that doesn't mean it aint fast check out the various times comparisons etc. Hmm yeah dunno why anyone would like a powerful smooth engine than revs to buggery
All i think the above points out is that there are some people with no taste but hey i've known that for some time lol

yep, id go for a rx8 given the question, and the fact that the 8 represents a better package. Obviously Clarkson prefers the 8, and the Stig got the same time from both cars suggests its pretty much personal preferance. The 8 is of course not a 350Z contender.... thats coming, and will probably called 2005 Rx7. No, the 8 is simply a great allrounder. Its very linear in its power delivery, which some people struggle to appreciate.

but weren't there problems with the twin rotary engine on the RX8's older brother, the RX7, something to do with the engine? and anyone know whether its been fixed on the RX8 or has it inherited the same problems as the RX7?

yes the renesis engine in the 8 has surpassed some of the weaknesses of the RX7 engine alhough it doesn't have the pair of snails on it u can get an upgrade & even many of the RX7 engines make it into 6 figured milage without needing a refresh which is still cheaper than rebuilds on similar powerful piston engined cars.

Some of the Americans have been having problems with the engine in the RX-8. In fact Canada ran out of replacement engines last month in a thread I read.
Reading the American BBS's, I'm not convinced with this engine.

Prefer the std wheels to the Rays. Was offered a silver one for immediate delivery by my local nissan dealer so must be a few washing around. Makes early profits unlikely.
Much nicer than a TT as a package.

The cars available for immediate delivery are cancelled orders, there's probably just a few of these left now. Once these have gone, you're probably looking at March/April delivery if you order now
I haven't bought mine to make a quick buck but I did see one UK Zed being offered at £35,000

Rick, believe this is Ash's car? Will look out for it.
Darby has just traded his TT for an RX8 - keep an eye out as well

Think its Red, but will have a look (he lives just up from me).
Off topic, have you ever used Powerzone for tuning etc? Need a leak down test done on the Mi16 - they have quoted £40-60, so may whip it over there for a test.
They also do a performance Mi16 head with seals etc for £425, so if they confirm its the seals and not rings that have gone I may go for that.
Any opinions?

All those Zed pics are of the best looking front quarter aspect of the car. From the rear IMHO I think they are fat assed plain ugly, but each to their own

He bought it all a few weeks back when he thought his rally car engine was fooked! Do it yourself.
