Hi,

I'm contemplating getting Jabbasport to chip my 130bhp Tdi Seat Ibiza. Their homepage shows that for about £340 i can get about 190bhp - about 60bhp hike. Now initially this sounds fantastic but I can't help but think that this sort of power hike with no more than a ECU remap will mean that the car will last about 2 weeks before going bang. Surely with this sort of power hike you need to be replacing things like Manifolds and Exhausts????

Can anyone substantiate these claims by Jabba??

Cheers
Marc

Marc

Worth having a read and search over on www.briskoda.net as a few Fabia vRS owners have (already!) had their 130PD's remapped.

My experience of Jabba with the 1.8T petrol engine was top notch. I deliberately asked for a conservative remap (safe and torquey rather than top end) because of a bad Impreza experience. The car was on the rolling road for 20 runs whilst in was fine tuned and the results were spot on.

As to diesels, they have the same approach, which is far more professional and thorough than the 2 diesel rechips I have had done on previous cars. Most tuners either just fit a standard one fits all chip and some will do a custom one, but not with 20 rolling road runs for the money !

Its torque that matters with your car - and Jabba will know what the torque limits are for the gearbox etc and the point at which black smoke (over-fueling) becomes a problem.

I'd suggest that you go in and ask for a 'modest' remap. If it starts off at say 145bhp (which they tend to) and you aim for a 25% increase at the most, that's 180bhp and 300lb/ft. Plenty enough - rather than them push the tolerances too closely ?

Thumbs up

All I can say is that I`ve used Jabbasport a few times in the past and always came away happy with exellent results. They`ve tuned 2 of my Golf G60`s and Mk4 1.8T.

Her indoors Golf PD130

At JabbaSport 2 weeks ago

B4 141bhp
AFTER 194bhp

3 hour process on rolling road and road test, WELL worth the £425, the engine wont go bang ! Only raised the boost by 0.1 bar !
They really know their stuff and cant be faulted, very little black smoke unlike Revo or Upsolute chips that are not custom for the car, and every engine is different.

On the road I had to change early to keep it going, now it pulls hard to the red line, has both the benefits of a diesel and petrol now. Cant praise them enough. Had a tuning box before and it didnt do much. Oh and JabbaSport are a small family affair, they really do give the personal touch as well including looking after my 3yr old, thanks Carol !

I searched for a while for any bad reports and they have none, except you do have to wait, but any tuner that can fit you in the next day should surely be avoided !!

Question

Lordlucan, is Jabba still a piggyback chip? I've a Passat PD130 6-speed, and 194bhp sounds interesting

Do you get dyno plots etc from them?

Cheers, Craig

Hopping on the Praise bandwagon, Jabba have remapped my Octavia 4x4 & my Wifes 110 bhp Octavia Diesel & with both cars the results are FANTASTIC.
Personal service, not rushed & great results & yes you do get a print out

Not a crude piggyback, but a remap of the ECU. At any point they will re-flash to original for free if you have warranty issues or are selling the car.

Out of interest, on these before & after rolling road runs do you get to see the power @ the wheels or does it just show calculated flywheel power? Also does it show what road-speed the power/torque peaked at?

Cheers,
Ian

So they only show you a flywheel figure & don't tell you what the power @the wheels is on either the before or after run?

If this is correct then this kinda confirms my initial thoughts about those kind of power gains from such a tiny increase in boost pressure being too good to be true as all they need to do is dab the brakes very quickly on the run down to get a higher calculated flywheel figure. Not saying they are definitely doing this but like I say, it seems too good to be true.........surely the car can't leave the factory SO wrongly setup to be able to make those sort of gains on pretty much standard boost!!

Isn't it slightly different diesel/petrol turbo tuning though? Thought most of the power gain comes from increased fuelling on diesels? Thought I saw that somewhere. Thought it strange at the time. Was a long time ago though and think I was a little pished

have a look at revotechnik.com aswell for alternative .

also goto seatcupra.net , a few people there with revo software done to the tdi , powerhike is great with results of upto 300lbft torque on a tdi vehicle.

loads of advice and helpful people . No engines gone pop.
