want to know specs on both of these,

Dad has said he would go for the 4.3 version as is lower mileage.

want to know what i will be missing out on as he has refused the 5.5 amg version !

The AMG version of the current E class is the 55 (see todays Autocar - Ferrari 360 pace and wardrobe capacity in one car). The old E class was also a 55 and available in saloon and estate.

The 43 AMG was only available in the old shape C class (saloon and estate) and has since been replaced by the supercharged C32. There was an E430 saloon available but not a full house "on steroids" AMG version - just the standard "Elegence" and "Avantgarde" options.

was in a hurry and did not make mys3elf as cl;ear as i should have.

the 4.3 is a Y plate 430 elegance e class.

the amg was an S plate 5.5 (55)

the amg has 58k and the elegance 20k.

dad is opting for the elegance much to my disgust !

wanted to see the comparison between the two.

Never driven a 430 but I imagine it is very smooth and the Elegance will be a fantastic limo experience - just not much of a sporting drive.

The 55 will be from another planet. Much stiffer, louder, ferociously fast but it's still a Merc E class so it will be a big old bruiser in the bends.

You've GOT to get your old man to try the AMG version but you may want to buy shares in Kwik Fit and Shell before he signs the cheque!!

Not sure on the specs but its fekin quick.

Now I may not like them but jeeze, I had a bit of tackle with one on a twisty road and the bugger just kept going!

I was recently in a taxi E320 CDI (diesel) on a Y plate which had 140,000miles yes 140k in two years. And was very clean looking even the leather was in great nick.

still unsure on exact figures,

it has 205 kW power and 400 Nm torque.

dunno how this converts to bhp/lb feet?
