1) Classic problem.... the rubber hydraulic pipe gets soft, especially when hot, and expands when the clutch is pressed. There is a stainless braided replacement pipe available from BMW part no. 95 09 0 000 002 (be persistent, not all dealers know about this mod!)

2) Somehwere like Cookes Ferry should be able to source an original for a fairly good price

3) Not sure about the ticking. Where is it precisely? Does it do it when stationary, moving or both?

4) Unlikely to be fuse as they would most likely both be on the same fuse, but could be wrong. Might be a blown element?

The clutch bites low even when the car is cold though?
Mine had a very low biting point at all times which would get worse on very hot summer days/stuck in traffic etc. to the point of crunching the odd gear! The clutch pipe solved it 100% - it could be worth checking that the clutch is properly bled first though I spose....

Ticking wise, its more apparent when the engine is underload, would lead me to think its an electrical kinda ticking? Sounds like its coming from behind the clocks.
Tricky one this.... the engines are quite "cammy" anyway and the lifters and injectors can be heard. Does the ticking increase proportionally to speed or RPM? I'm sure that the Taco and Speedo are electronic not cable driven so there shouldn't be any mechanical noise from them.

Are elements on the heated seats replaceable?
Not had any experience with the heated seats I'm afraid so I'm not sure. Maybe if you could find the connector on the seat you could check for continuity in the element to check it - it could just be a loose connection somewhere. Try over at http://www.bm3w.co.uk they have a couple of BMW service advisors that are forum members may be able to give more accurate info!

Question

1. The clutch bites about 2mm off the floor, makes for an interesting drive, am I correct in assuming BMW will be able to adjust this for me?

2. The lovley Mtec gearknob is showing signs of wear, where can I locate a replacement item? How much are they from BMW? Or should I use a company like autovouge?

3. I have a ******* annoying ticking kinda noise coming from behind the clocks, driving me nuts already!

4. The drivers heated seat is not working, passenger one does though..... fuse?

Maybe I just put it into a dealer to get these little bits sorted out?

Cheers

Paul

Thanks matey!

I will speak to the dealer tomorrow about the clutch pipe

The ticking does increase with rpm so chances are its the lifters etc? Maybe I should just turn the stereo up

Pretty sure... its the number I quoted to get mine done. Let me know if the dealer can't find it and I'll put you onto my service advisor who sorted it for me!

Also I'll see if I can find the invoice....

ok.... found invoice and it is the correct part number. Like I said, some dealers find it hard to find for some reason.... I doubt it is a standard catalogue item.

The part was £57.77 ex VAT btw

I thought a ticking noise that increases with rpm is a sign that the VANOS is on the way out. I hope you've got warranty.

lol @ fuz, its got a digital clock mate!

Just booked the car in with BMW to have the braided clutch hose fitted, part was £57 + vat, with only £30 fitting, im impressed!

New gearknob from BMW was £27 + vat too, also ordered a set of mats @ £80 + vat.

Roll on Nov 20th to get the clutch done!
