the old man...

hi all,
my old man is after a replacment car for the sh!tbagging omega 2.5 v6 that he currently has.
he has had some very fast cars and a (extensive) history in motorsport.
getting a bit old and fart like now (66) and needs guidance.
he is no longer interested in production car news, thus never really keeps up with new models etc.
thing is he likes to get a proper shift on at times!
the omega, though whilst he defends it, he and i both know that it has not really got it.
thus we need an estate circa £12k thats gonna do the bizzo, whilst putting up with my fathers frustrating lack of mechanical sympathy.
he wants auto and must be big enough to get a 74 inch coffin in the back. it needs to double as a private funeral car you see for collection from old folks homes etc. (before all the questions start, this is standard practice in the funeral trade as is discreet and does not upset people/residentsof aforementioned, unlike hearse's can do in such situations...)
he is on about an E320 merc, i know nothing about these - neither does he.
we really need to get somehting as the other pile of poo is dying.
any ideas??
cheers,
Weava

Mitsubishi Legnum VR-4 2.5 litre quad-cam 24v V6 with twin turbos, 5-speed INVECS II auto box with sports (tiptronic) mode, 276bhp, 268ftlb torque, 0-60 in a tad under 6s and on to 150mph top speed. Imports all have privacy glass in the back adding to the hearse-like look . Go for a dark colour (black or indigo blue). 12k should get him a 2000 V or W.

for sale, one omega - used to carry dead people
yeah, like the residents wouldn't notice someone is missing or maybe at their ages and in their conditions they wouldn't
p.s. merc e-class

Not sure how much room there is in the back of a C36 AMG Estate but worth a try. Don't think that you will find an E55 AMG estate either. Could Always go for an early T5-R in Yellow!!!!!

Mercedes E430 estate - they depreciate as fast as a coffin off a cliff, and you should get a high-miles but good one for £12k.
Turbine smooth, wonderfully relaxing to drive, though not exaxtly sports cars!

Think a Saab 9-5 is just under 69 inches, so that is out. Believe the only thing bigger or even similar to an Omega would be the E class Merc. Great car though.

So to the M5. Take one storming M5 saloon, insert running gear in Touring bodyshell and voila. The ultimate sporting estate. The prototype M5 Touring was shown at the Frankfurt show late in 1991 and it came on the market in Germany the Spring of 1992. There were no 3.6 M5 Tourings, with all the 891 cars having the later 340bhp 3.8 version of the venerable Motorsport 'six. Interestingly, once the Touring went on sale about half of all Germans opted for the load lugger over the saloon, proving there was certainly a market for an indecently rapid estate. Top speed was electronically limited to 155mph, but the 0-62mph dash was dispatched in a smidgen under| six seconds but sadly for UK buyers it was left-hand drive only and not destined for UK consumption.
