Octavia vRS Performance Question
#1
First post on this forum so here goes
I've seen a few post in this section with regards to the vRS and a few more on the Jabbasport ECU remap.
Can anyone please tell me what the performance figures are like for the vRS with this improvement ie. in terms of 0-60 times
The Jabbasport site provides good stats on bhp and levels of torque but seems to miss out this little piece of info
On a side note does anyone know how the Octavia 4x4 compares with the remap?
Cheers for any info

Could try briskoda.net - loads of people on there have had their RSs Jabba'd although im not sure how many have actually got timed 0-60s. IMHO you are always going to struggle a bit with getting the power down at the start through only fwd on the RS.

Yeah, just did a scan though all their posts and found a few interesting threads.
Approx 6.4 seconds apparently.
Although they are stating the 4x4 which has the same engine as the vRS can come in with similar times if it has been Jabba'd.
Hmmmmmmm...............

A couple of answers for you:-
1. The vRS and 4x4 engines are IDENTICAL apart from a detuned ECU.
Both produced 220-235bhp with a Jabba trip.
2. The Autocar roadtest of the vRS is known have been on a car that was modified to 210/225 bhp. This gave 0-60 in 6.7, 30-70 in 6.3 and 144 mph (150ish on speedo)
3. The 4x4 has shorter gearing and better traction but more weight and softer suspension. 6.4 is about right in my experience
4. I chose the 4x4 route over the vRS, coming from the Impreza, because the engine can be hugely modded and I want 4wd to cope with it !
Excellent cars.

I went the 4x4 route & have so far changed suspension to KW V2, fitted bigger brakes, 17" wheels & had it "Jabbad" to 228 bhp + tons of torque
Ask anyone who went on this years Cannonball how quick the Skoda was !!!!
I came from a STI 3 & can honestly say this is a better car. The other big plus is that the std engine internals are good for close to 400 bhp should you wish to mod further. The Gearbox & drive train then become suspect but as its the Audi system parts off the higher powered Audis can be easily fitted.
TaviaRS who posts here occasionally on can also be found on Briskoda has a VRS with over 100000 miles on it including thousands of track miles, it has beemn remapped for most of those miles & still runs sweet as a nut. You couldent do that with a scoob !!!!(or get 30 to the gallon)
Before you chose try & get a ride in a remapped Octavia, its honestly a totally different car, try posting on Briskoda to see if anyone local to you will take you for a spin, Im in Winchester so a bit too far for you I think
If Carlsburg made cars they would probably be Skodas

Morning Stuart, yes I do post on here sometimes
No idea what figures mine does, especially now as I wouldn't want to hurt it. Also bear in mind, mine has done 116,000 miles in the last 2 years. Included in that are just over 10,000 track miles. The car was first remapped at 9,500 miles and I've had no engine related faults (OK, the clutch went at 110,000 miles)other than the usual coil pack failures last year.
If I had to guess figures I 'd say low 6s for the 60 about 14ish for the 100, and I can hit the limiter in 5th (170.2). Adequate.

The 6.4 time is probably from mine - that was on a gravelly road, two up, tank of gas, bootfull of junk, so I *know* it can be bettered. One day I'll borrow the timing gear and do an empty run.
Which newcastle are you in? If under-lyme then I'm not too far and would happily offer a run in mine, in upon-tyne then it's a bit far I'm afraid - tho I often work in Leeds if thats any help?
Ian.
(octy 4x4 estate, remap only, 222bhp, 231lb ft)

How much different is the Haldex (?) 4wd system to the Impreza centre and rear diff 4wd (not the STI) ?
Are the standard fuel pump, injectors and air intake enough to cope with large increases in bhp/boost, etc ?
I want a 4X4 when my scoob breaks, hopefully not too soon.
And I'd want the Skoda to shame the TT 3.2V6 as well. Possible ?

Have any of you guys fitted performance air filters to your Skoda's? A mate of mine has one and is tempted to a K+N or Pipercross, is it worthwile on it's own? He may add the chip at a later date.

I've gone from a Impreza 'Fugly' WRX to a Tavia vRS and all I can say is WOW. The build quality and value for money is exceptional. I'm still running the car in so I can't comment on it's performance yet but it definetly pulls. I recon once loosened up it will be nearly as fast as my WRX was as standard. After it is remapped (Jabba'd in the new year) it will be faster. Although the HP will down on the Scoob's (250 vs 225 ish) there is a lot less trasmission loss. I would loose a traffic light grand prix with a Scoob but who cares. I can overtake or lap as well as one. In the dry.
Of course, the scoob would have a Tavia in the twisties (Cliche)

Nearly.
(accy - not far from me!)
The 4x4 was originally only available as an estate.
Then, for about 6months, they decided to sell it as a hatch also.
It didn't sell many, so they went back to estates only.

No, as I've been looking around for one I can confirm that they make a hatchback version too. Not as practical as the estate but still stacks of room in it.

Stanmo - Haldex system is 2 wheel drive until fronts start to slip then becomes 4 wheel drive & as its the Audi system is very efficent so the plus of 4WD but the economy of 2WD. Scoob is permanent 4WD therefore in day to day driving more fuel needed to drive all those gears & diffs
Fuel pump & jets Ok for the remap upgrade, after that its a question of how far you want to go. If you are fitting bigger turbos etc then Jets & pump will need looking at but thts the same for most cars
As far as shaming the TT is concerned, a remap may well achieve just beating a 225 bhp TT, some recon they have done it but if you tune further which the Internals can take then who knows what you can beat, I took a 348 Ferrari on the Cannonball with just a remap on the Gentle twisties (indicated 142 mph)although it had the legs on me on the Motorways
Re hatch/estate. Yes the hatch is available as mine is a hatch, Marshalls in Ipswich sold a batch of 50 at the begining of this year so they may have some s/hand ones by now

the_boy, I've recently visited Jabba with my vRS. Currently running 228bhp (although peaked at a shade over 230bhp on the day) and torque up to 330Nm at about 4600rpm. Only other mod's are FORGE DV and cat-back custom exhaust. I'm only a few miles south of Durham if you want to meet up I'd be more than happy to take you for a spin....

Something else I noticed......'tavia owners seem to be a very friendly and helpful bunch. I guess that's the benefit of being a small community, I guess that's what the Impreza community was like back in the old days.
