Might not be spelt right, but spotted a VW Phatoem. Wasn't that impressed. If it wasn't for the badge at the back, it just looked like a big Passat.

Phaeton. It was originally a type of horse carriage (like 'sedan').

Lucky to spot one, they are about as popular as a dose of the clap apparently..

I think VW were under pressure to shut down production and cut their losses (was on TV a couple of weeks ago)

Correction: it was a type of horse-drawn carriage long before it was a Skoda. Does it surprise you that early motor cars were named after horse-drawn carriages: Phaeton, Cabriolet, Coupe, Roadster, Spyder?

A representative list here

saw one the other day in a car park, was so long the back end stuck out a good foot from the parking bay

It didn't look very inspiring either.

Did Clarkson no drive one of these in Saudi Arabia or Egypt or something and get the de-restricted press car he was given to an indicated 320km/h or 200mph??

IIRC it was the W12 engine that was fitted...

Cheers,
Grant
