RS 1800 on Ebay.....starts@£18000!

I agree Dingy, Mk2's look the danglies with wide arches (My favourite? Vatanen's '82 Manx car, leaving 11" wide black lines all over the place).
But if I were buying an RS1800, originality would be the key. IMHO that particular car on Ebay, whilst being genuine, looks like a tidy Mexico with a wide arch kit, Superlites and a blue stripe. Not an RS1800.

There's just something about Mk2 Escorts that make me smile... Ah yes, memories of them going flat out, sideways, through forest rally stages!
Nice example that one - price might be a tad optimistic?

Wow! That is one collectable car, I remember seeing one in motoring news over 10 years ago for about 7K so price maybe about right, be surprised if he gets that for it on ebay. Pretty sure they didnt have forest arches as standard either, be better in original trim.

Cracking car! One of my customers has one that he's selling. He wants, wait for it...... £22,000 for his. But it is the mintest thing i've seen.
But that's the price you have to pay considering there's only 5 left in the country...

At first glance of the thread title I thought you were talking about a Fiesta
Now that would have been optimistic lol

Bloody hell if I came home with an old Escort (no matter how significant) my missus would react the same way as if I had told her I had swapped the family cow for some magic 'beans'.

Until one of my brothers bought a Mk1 RS2000, I prefered the Mk2. His car was superb. Was a light blue, with the darker blue stripe down the sides. Makes me grin just thinking about it.
Saw a green equivalent on the way back from Torquay recently on the M5. They are the knackers.
Mind you, back in the Spring, saw a hill-climb from Babbacombe (sp?) where there were a few Mk2s + many others, and the noise from the Mk2 RS2000 is awesome. I have some AVIs of them, taken from my cheap-n-nasty camera, picture quality isn't great, but the sound is. Anyone wants them, let me know and I'll upload them for you.

5 left in the country ?
There were more than that @ the last show.
Plus some rs1800's came with arches and minilites as extra's fitted @ boreham....apparently...
18k is not a bad price, mine would be near 20k and its a 2000

You are joking aren't you?
67 at the last count. But, yes, a very rare car.

V nice looking motor, but as Olly said the arch kit (and to a lesser extent the lights) has probably devalued it. Would look better on a set of pukka 13x7 4 spokes too IMO

Hello - I've zipped up a few pics and AVIs of that hill climb I mentioned earlier. The file is about 6.5MB. You can get it here!
I would have got more shots, but the weather was great, and the pub across the bay was open...

It looks the muts nuts to me and everyone seems to have missed the fact that this is car number 1 Pukka rally mark 2 escorts go for nearer £60k these days As far as I can remember that is a standard looking car and worth that sort of money. If Mark 1 lotus cortinas fetch £15k these days why can't a Mark 2 RS1800 fetch that money?
Paul
p.s how's it coming along Dingy?
