whats the power on a 99 v reg, is it 210bhp? just wondered as this pest at work keeps telling me his has 225bhp and i thought it was only late 00 - early 01 models that this started on. anymore info would be appreciated. he says a golf vr6 gave him some trouble before he could get past it so this makes me wonder. just curious thats all. cheers.

IIRC you can take it back and get the ECU re-flashed or something to give the upgraded power... I was sure I read that on an Audi Forum somewhere!!

Xenon Lights, and a wider choice of colour I think...

Thats all I can remember, but I am sure that there are more upgrades!

Upgraded suspension, post 2002 cars handled better and supposedly (according to EVO) steered slightly better too.

Get the car chipped and get 270 (with exhaust) compromise free horses.

You also get a nice sticker saying 97 ron only on the 225BHP model !
210 model can run on normal 95 ron

Not true. 17's still standard, also have one piece headlamp/indicator units and restyled centre console/climate units.

Xenon's satndard on all models.

Hmmm, I really did think that late spec cars came with 18's as standard, cause I havent seen a late model on standard 17's......

Nope, my S3 is a June 2002 225bhp model.

The 18`s were an option for about a grand, I opted not to get them so I`m stuck with the 17" Avus wheels.

Zenons have been standard kit on all S3s since launch.

225bhp cars have the engine number starting with BAM.....

Twaddle, It doesn't say 97 ONLY, Both engines run fine on 95 or 97 just the ECU backs off a tad if you only run 95ron and hence you dont get the full whack out of the engine. My Leon Cupra R has the same 210 engine and its got a 97ron sticker in it but if you read the manual it explains this....

The KW sticker in the boot is a good way of telling. Can't remember the exact figure but the 210 and 225 are different...

A guy at work had his chipped and was activated via cruise control - about 270 bhp...unfortunately the hadlex system failed and it became a FWD only!!

According to Autocar the S3 gets 0-60 in 6.4 and 0-100 in 16.4. The TT manages 0-100 in 15.7 so I guess it is possible with a 225bhp S3.

A well running chipped S3 will make 0-100 in about 14 seconds.

Good point, the sticker by the spare wheel well will tell you if it`s 225bhp, why didn`t I think of that!
