looking to sell my BMW 323i to part fund a new WRX on sept 1st. I've only been offered £5750 trade-in, which is below book (private sale guide is around £9000).

I've put it in Autotrader, but only two people have phoned so far, and neither came round to see it.

Any tips, or other places to sell? I've actually had more calls from companies trying to sell me stuff like cardata.

What year/model (e36/e46) is it. I have just sold a 323i Sport Tourer which was booked at 8800-9250. However I ended up selling it for 7800. I had it in autotrader for 4 weeks and only had about 6 calls 2 of which came to see the car. If you dont get people phoning then you probably have it priced to high.

I was offered £5,500 for my N reg 328i Coupe on a trade-in and ended up getting £7,500 privately.

Autotrader is as good a place as any, but unfortunately it is a buyer's market at the moment with plenty of second hand cars to choose from, so like Paulmon says you'll probably have to drop the price...

Ignore companies like cardata, waste of time. Also try EBAY, Loot and Exchangeandmart. Beyond these I wouldn't bother, Autotrader is still the best and first place most people looking for a new car will try.

its a 98/R (E36). SE trim saloon in black.

I have it down for £7995. Its a five year old car, but I've only been driving it for two years, and before that it was garaged off the road for three (was an ex-fleet, and the owner died we think - BMW confirmed the mileage as 2100 when I bought it at 3 years old). So its in lovely nick. All the trimmings apart from leather and trip computer

How many miles has it got on it?

When I was selling mine I looked at what similar cars were going for and then took 2-300 pounds of that. I still ended up getting between 1000 and 1500 more than trade in in the last two years on 3 cars selling between 7 and 9 k.

Has it got full BMWSH too? As most poeple on the BMW BBS advise to go for this when looking at a second hand car, and as people say its a buyers market so people can be choosy.

64000 mostly motorway miles.

Full BMW service history. Lovely car, and its cheaper than others of a similar age.

I've now had two calls from punters (no visits) and FOUR from companies selling me stuff.

I always put "absolutely no canvassers or agencies" on my ads, otherwise they just bombard you.

I always look at FIndit.co.uk and loot now rather than autotrader.

I'd stick it there first.

Is there a BMW site like this that might be a good place to sell it on.

findit.co.uk - worth paying the £30 for the '101 websites'? Sounds too good to be true..
