It'll break down before it kills you.

No need to worry

At least it's got the wishbones at the rear, rather than the transverse leaf springs of the Herald/Spit

Wink

a "camber compensater" is funny little thing attached on the axle, and theres 2 blocks hold the spring firm at either end to stop -ve camber at 80+ or reversing, so your wheels dont tuck under when conering at speed.

my old mans mk III spit just attaches from bolted to axle to the wheel assembly (shocks and stuff) but mine has a camber compensator on the axel and a pair of blocks at either end of the spring, holding it firm to, roll with the chassis, for better road holding.

You sure it's a GT6 then? IIRC the GT6s had wishbones at the rear, but it was deemed too expensive for the Spit/Herald so when they did the Mk3 Spit they did the anti-camber thing. Maybe they then used that on the Mk3 GT6 to save money by allowing the cheaper cart springs to be used on the back?

Yours is a Mk3 GT6 isn't it? The sort with the 'corporate' tail (i.e. same as the 2500, Spit, etc.)

Personally I prefer the rear of the earlier GT6s, but I think the later tail looked better on the Spitfire.

mate - take it from me, you wont wanna do 130 in it, EVER. these cars just aren't safe at these speeds - not stable or aerodynamically capable. i've had my mg upto 115 and no thanks - just not stable at all, very scary.

never heard of anti-camber blocks, is this in anyway like a panhard rod?

mk IV spit had camber compensator, mk3 doesn't. I prefer the ealier back end on the spits and later back on the GT. plus i dont have to worry about walkin into the rear stop light and cracking it off (common problem).
cars steady as a rock at 80, need test run l8r.

universal triumph spit/gt/herald camber compensator.
