From an earlier post, its now getting to the point of dumping the thing.

ok, most garages i have spoken to all quote about £400 for the head gasket, or a new engine for £450, the car is only bloody worth about £800, so Im thinking of either a cheap engine swap and do it myself.
Or scrap the car for parts etc...

anyone want to give their opinion of what to do?

thanks Tony

Try to sell it as a non-runner?

No point shelling over half its value on repairs unless you plan to keep it for a long time.

I sold my Nissan Pulsar to get a Vauxhall, and I hate Vauxhall.

Go on then, what you all think its worth as a non-runner then, lol

If it's only worth £800 as a runner then probably £200ish

Stick it on ebay. That way the winning bidder will have to come and collect it and you might get more than the going rate.

As a fellow Isuzu 1.7 owner, can you tell me if you kept up the servicing properly? Esp, did you miss any coolant changes or put neat water in? Someone has told me to look after the head gasket decent antifreeze regularly keeps it in good nick.

i often checked on the level as it did have a tendency to loose water, it got to about a week before it died, then it was drinking litres of water a day, i did start to use very weak coolant as i could not afford to keep topping it up, it had been booked in for a water pump change too, but never made it.

Im now going to try and sell the car for spares or repair.

So if anyone wants to give me some cash for it, they are more than welcome.

im gona get a cheap 205 GTI as i had one before and had no problems.

cheers

Tony
