Thumbs down

Gotta be the worst car I've driven.....and that includes a Hyundai Sonata (don't ask...).

It's piggin uncomfortable - the driving position is skewed, the engine is sh!te, and the interior is low rent in the extreme. Even the radio is feckin cr@p! Listening to Five Live and every time you go under a bridge it shrieks interference at you.

Why would anyone buy one???

Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish!

Come back Golfy, come back quick!

"Why would anyone buy one???"

Insanity? Or more seriously because their company provides it. I had one as a fill in car after I rejected my company provided brand new Vectra because of its many faults. The DTi was a slug and handled like a pig probably because of the weight of the old fashioned diesel over the front wheels. Also cheap and nasty inside- I had the "CDX" model which was near the top of the range and it was truly nasty inside.

I add the Peugot 307 I had for a hire car last week in Switzerland. Absolutely horrible the steering and the wheels did'nt seem to be linked and the power from the 1.6l engine seemed to be a lot less than the wife's 1.2l Clio.
Worst modern car I have ever driven.
Hired a Mondeo the week before - surprisingly good.

off topic I know but Mondeos (old and particularly new shape) drive very well indeed. Very good steering feel and a nice taught and adjustable chassis. I was seriously impressed when I had one as a co. hack, then less than impressed when they gave me a VECTRA to keep.

I ran a Vectra SRi for two years....worst mistake of my life..

If it wasn't the fact i was tied in with finance with it, i would've got rid sooner than i did.

Had a fiat stilo thing for a few days, wasn't too bright but the worst modern car I have ever driven was a base spec Nissan Almera that I hired for a week in ireland. I could not believe how rubbish it was. I thought that I had left the handbrake on at first. It seemed like I should be shovelling more coal under the boiler to try and generate forward motion. It had that *steer now, corner later* handling, everything about it was sh*te.

I've had 2 mondeos and liked them both. The 2l Zetec was reasonably nippy.

It's not as bad as the hire car Nissan Primera 1.8S that I've got whilst mine's being fixed, it handles like the QE2.

Paul, the cooling fans have shorted and died. For the second time. There's nothing like reliable German engineering.....

I am sorry lads, but surely most of you have had the misfortune of a Subaru Justy courtesy car before?

I have to say, that is a sorry excuse for a car, the most spiteful piece of sh1te I have ever had the misfortune to drive. My Mum's ancient Austin Allegro had more charisma and acceleration that the justy...a truly horrible little car.

I still cant quite believe that 1) Some people actually paid to buy one and 2) It's from the same manufacturer as the Impreza

Is it still on their books as well??

I've gotta vote Vectra as the worst cars I have ever been in.

I've driven the 1.6, 2.0, 2.5 and 1.7td.

All sh1te, terrible, horrible, awful, crappy, *****, nasty *******.

I'm not too keen on em

Question

I can't believe anyone with more than a single brain cell would buy an Astra DTi. Its a total shed of a car, everything is poor.

What makes it even worse is that its direct competitor the Focus TDCi is an astoundingly good car.

WHY, WHY, WHY?

1 Agree
2 It's built in Hungary on the same production line as a Suzuki Swift - to which it bears more than a passing resemblance apart from the AWD.
3 It's not on the books any longer.

The worst car I have ever driven has to be the Nissan Serena diesel. It had at one stage the unenviable honour of being the slowest car 0-60 (31 seconds!!) you could buy at the time. If you don't believe me look here
Noisy, slow and sh1te!!
