@ proper Minis. I have heard this a lot.

Mini2 is a very good site, a real wealth of experience from all over the world.

The Minis made from 1959 to 2000 were proper, so called 'coz of 41 years in production...the MINI has been in production for 2 years, so is the new pretender

I own two Minis, and work for BMW, so drive a lot of new ones too. I like them both, just the MINI is a modern car, hasn't got the character of the original. I'd of got an S instead of my Saxo VTS if I could have afforded the insurance and the £14.5k purchase price.

True. Its just a name on the new model. They're still a class above the rivals out there for the money. I went to look at a Focus before I ordered my Mini. Brand new 1.6 (base model) with alloys and a few body bits came to just over 15k from a main dealer. Get a hell of a lot more car from BMW.

Definitely mate, I'd say they were the best car in their class, although not in every area.

A 1.6 loaded Focus does not compare to a MINI Cooper, glad you made the right decision! Just hope your's is one of the well built ones...

You'll definitely enjoy it anyway, I'd of got the Cooper if they weren't so slow £800 less to insure than my VTS though...just more to buy.

They are 'slow' but they are just so much fun to buy. Plus, I can't realistically insure anything faster. Hope it is a well built one or its going back!

I couldn't justify buying a car that is £12k when it's only as quick, if not a tad slower than my proper Mini And less fun! Although would handle better than my Mini, 'coz of wheels on my proper one. Anyway, don't want to get on the ol' MINI vs Mini debate, coz they're totally different cars!

Enjoy your new'un mate, it'll certainly drive very well and look stunning!

Cheers Having been reading up on all things Mini I now really fancy a blast in an original Mini! Might have to look out for a cheap one!

BTW 12k is the list price, but the time there is anything on the car at all, there is not much change from 15k
