My other half had one for around 2 months as a company car.
It looked the part, handled well but i thought the performance was pretty average, it never felt fast. At the time she had a mk1 MR2 and i had a Vectra 2.0l CDI (chipped to 160BHP) neither of which whereo flying machines but felt a match for the Clio.
The interior had all the quality of an airfix kit and made from the same grade and thickness of plastic.
IMHO i felt it was overated, i liked the looks and wanted to be inmpressed but was not.

Im thinking of buying one of these just for FUN!
Fair enough they're not blisteringly fast but fun isn't just about that, test drive one and see what you think

Hi mate, I bought a Willie 2 back in March.
You get quick ones and get slow ones. Mine is standard and will hit 100mph in about 17secs which isnt too shabby (checked many times with a AP22 performance meter & GPS). Handles superbly on the back roads and thats where it really is top fun. Quite boring to drive on the open road after a turbo but I get 30mpg+ which is nice. My lowest mpg is 27mph for constant town driving and some AP22 runs.
The interior isnt great but not terrible - cheap plastics (bit like a scoob). Only one rattle and it will be sorted soon.
The biggest downside is getting stuff done - they like to take the engine out for everything! im pretty sure they would take the engine out for a tyre change Having owned a Ford as my last car the cost of things are a bit of a shock.
Just have to get a good one - mine has just hit the 30,000 mile mark and is immaculate but I looked at some horrors fro big money. Rear arches like to rust BTW.

I had a 16 v clio for 3 years, and the a Williams 2 for 3 years. The Williams was lots more fun, more torque, with much shorter gearing, and different suspension set up.
The small difference on 0-60 is misleading, in the williams you change to 3rd at 56 and even top gear was very short c/w the 16v which could do 60 in 2nd. This makes the car quite buzzy on motorways - but an absolute laugh everywhere else. The rear suspension has a degree of passive rear-steer effect like a skateboard truck so the turn in for corners is amazing, however i suspect this is why i noticed suspect stability on fast sweepers and a feeling that oversteer was just round the corner!
I had no major faults in all that time, but 2 broken clutch cables.
I still regret selling it.....

This all sounds familiar to us 306 Rallye owners! I might have been tempted by a ***** but for the fact you can pick up a hot 306 thats 4-5 years newer for not much more cash. Given that French cars don't age too well I think some of the higher mileage ****** will be shagged by now.

I used to own a Willi 3 before i traded it in for the impreza.
It was a great car, handling was superb, engine seemed bullet proof (had a custom map and full de-cat yielding 190bhp - was featured in Performance Car).
Only downside was the drivers side rear wheel arch started bubbling a little (quite common), yet one visit to the renault dealer and it was booked in and sorted no questions asked !!
In some respects i wish i hadn't sold it
Iain
PS, still on the look out for a good willi 3 as a run about
