Er, actually their order books pretty full....especially in the North west!
I was in a pup in outskirts of Liverpool and Steven Gerrard pulled up in a black Cayenne. Had a chat with him and he said a 'few' liverpool players were getting one and a few other players from NW teams were too or already had one.

I was followed by a silver Cayenne a few days ago - looked very composed for something with a centre of gravity on the edge of space and weighing over 2 tons. Went quite nicely as well, not sure if it was a turbo version.
As for looks it's all personal opinion (as most Scooby owners are aware)

Mine isn't slower :-)
I had a little play with one a few weeks back - think he was a bit surprised when he didn't blow me away
Look better in the flesh than they did in the pictures i'd seen though

Heard they've only sold 2 in the North West...and they start at £45K
Personally I think they are superb, and shouldn't fall to bits on the way home like a Range Rover.
CrisPDuk's neighbour has a Cayenne S, so that must be the other one..

Well my dad got one at the end of may its only a cayenne S but for a jeep it is quite awesome, he had a bmw x5 4.6is before it and a range rover before that which was simply awful. Drives like a 996, handles like a 996 and is so quick compared to any other jeep.

Porsche are sweating!!!!!! Read this weeks Auotcar !! they have over 500 S models sitting around that no one wants to buy and in America they are in a real panic as the car just has not caught on.
My mate had one on order(Turbo) and they sent the demo round, I drove the car and it is S---e he has an Merc AMG 4wd and it would eat the Porsche and looksa so much better, My personal opinion is the car looks like a an Bmw x5 on steroids.
Update mate has just purchased the new VW with the 10litre diesel!!!
Porsche should stick to what they are brilliant at Fast sports cars

Benview,
I have an AMG ML55 and have absoultely no idea how it drives better than a Cayenne. Admittedly, you said "eats" but I assume you meant "drives". The ML is bloody terrible IMHO.
The Cayenne is crap inside and just like an estate car to sit in. The same can also be said for the Toerag which is why my V10 that is due next weekend will be going to another home, not this one.

What people don't seem to get with these cars, is that they were designed primarily for the N American market. The SUV is king there, OK so some S's may not have sold yet, but they will, believe me.
I am in Toronto every year, was there in june and saw a few and every person I was with at the time lusted after them.
They may not make much sense in Europe, but in the godd ol' US of A, they make absolute sense, where cayenne owners know they are driving something far superior and with much more cachet that the ever popular Lincoln Navigators or Cadillac Escalades.
Many people call the Cayenne a dillution of the brand. I don't really see how this is so, all car manufacturers are in business to make money, the Cayenne will make Porsche money, there will be demand, esp in N America, is that not reason enough to produce it?
OK, it may not be the prettiest kid on the block, but, arguably, niether is the 911 (when compared with an Aston, Ferrari etc), neither was the 968, these cars were respected above all else for being exhillerating to drive, and, compared with the competition, the cayenne fulfills this brief to a T.

Chrisp, if a Scoob raises some eeybrows try driving a black MK2 Golf, lowered with big wheels and a loud exhaust, seems to attract attention, ranging from , nice Golf Mate to Tosser (thats the wife though)

Catching on in the USA?! I don't think so. I've seen ZERO of them on the road - I have seen them outside a dealer though. And I'm in the centre of Silicon Valley (there's 2 360s, a 550, a Vanquish and a GT2 outside the office - none mine!), so I kind of expected to see them everywhere. Hell, I didn't even see one on in Las Vegas last month (did see an Enzo) - the lack of taste capital of the world Going down like a cup of cold sick IMO.

The Cayenne S isn`t really selling in North America, if you`re not too fussy about colour or spec you can just about buy one "off the peg" at quite a few Porsche centres.
I think it`s a different matter about the turbo though.
I`m pretty neutral about it to be honest.
