The stripped out Club Sport version was crowned best handling car by Autocar mag one year. Supposed to be the dog's danglies.
I was put off by the terror stories of the servicing costs, but I think that's the same across the board for Porkies of this sort of age.
www.qv500.com has an article on the 968 I believe - also mentions the ultra rare turbo versions.

Cheers Davyboy! good info there!
Any interior pics anyone?
CC - Not for me this request (maybe I should've stated that).
Certainly not bored with the S2000 (be pretty hard to get bored of them I'd say) and looking forward to taking it round Silverstone soon!

A bit more info here. The 944/968 has been discussed a lot lately. If you look on page 3 you will see some interior pics of my 944 Turbo and the interior is nearly the same, the steering wheel is different though.

Best advice I can give you is make sure you inspect the teeth on the cams, coz unlike the 944s the variocam of the 968 means they get eaten very quickly and needing a pair of repacement cams at 40k is not unusual & if the the chain slips it will get very pricey.

The only other major known fault was the pinion bearings in the 6 speed manual box. There was a small batch that were assembled incorrectly and after a period of time, say 60-100k miles owners started to experience a high pitched whine when lifting off the throttle at speeds in excess of 80mph. Many were repaired by Porsche under warranty but many lower mileage cars that started to experience the problem 10 years down the line, were out of warranty and had to fork out themselves.
More details at http://www.968.net and a very useful Forum
Apart from that these cars are rock solid, being the pinnacle in a near 20 year Porsche development from the 924 through 944 and eventually the 968.
