Just bought a cheapie
#1
Just bought an MOT'd 1990 Audi 90 2.3E for £100 from one of my neighbours, despite waking up this morning with no intention of buying anything.
This means I now have four taxed and MOT'd cars sitting on my drive.
This is the 2309cc 5 cylinder one, and I've always loved the 5 cylinder engine sound
P.S If anyone wants to buy a 1990 Volvo 440 1.7i with 80k and FSH or an M reg Cavalier GLS 2.0 16v let me know
I need the space

Yup.
Drives really well actually A lot quicker than I expected.
Only two things I have noticed is the N/S/F top strut mount is worn (£5.50 from Euro Car Parts) and it needs a new side repeater (£4.50 from Audi)

Same as the difference between the 100 and 200, the higher numbers denote bigger engines and plusher trim, very confusing though, all 90's had 5 cylinder engines. They had different grilles and lights as well. Same basic structure (bodyshell) for the 80 and 90.

Just had another look at the piccies, its lovely, for 100 quid that is bargain of the year, sad thing is that people will avoid stuff like that as its comparitively complex compared to a G reg Escort at 300 quid which will be a snotty nasty head of poop wheras that is galvanised wont rust and is very durable, to be honest I think Audis of that era had a lot more character than the current ones.
As for parts, Euro Car Parts will get you some cheap consumables, tyres should be cheap nowadays and even if it breaks big style for 100 quid scrap it, to be honest if you keep it serviced it looks like it would do another 100,000, making me want another to replace my Golf !
One caveat is to avoid the 4wd drive ones and those with autoboxes if possible, good cars but the 4wd system is costly to fix on a banger and the Autoboxes were marginal and are now difficult to source and not a d.i.y job.
