anyone know what one of these is worth ??
I have always fancied 1 as a runabout for a bit & there is one in the trader I have been following.
He wants £3,500 for it, 47,000 genuine with all previous MOT's, immaculate condition & the guy sounds really genuine. Looks stunning in the pics.
any info on them ? bhp, etc ??
any info appreciated.

I only know their reputation and what I've read in various magazines and it isn't good.
Huge bills, dodgy electrics, rust etc, I would imagine that a professional inspection would be the way to go with this type of car. Perhaps someone who knows better will be able to correct me?

Good advice.
Actually, I would advise to stay well clear full stop.
Mate had one (and was part of an owners club) and he said everyone had trouble *all the time* with them. Parts are very very expensive.
OK, this was about five years ago but I can't the situation being any better.
Cheers

These cars can be scarily unreliable, though well sorted cars are supposed to be reliable. There is only one snag with this, the place to get them sorted is nowhere near you.
An inspection is essential and as above I am afriad it is necessary to travel to have it done properly.
THE place for all things 'old' Maserati is Bill McGrath Maserati, in Kimpton Hertfordshire. Andy Heywood is the workshop manager and always ready to give advice. Do not buy a Biturbo without at least speaking to him first!
Also they do not sell cars, but they will put owners who are selling in touch with prospective buyers etc.,.. and if the car has been looked after by them you know it is going to be a good one.
Hope this helps

Robin, what have you got then ??
I still like the look of it even just from the pic, I'd be tempted for 2.5k, a site on the net has it @ 5k. I like odd cars (q type cars), like bmw 635csi, 735 csi, audi quatro old shape, old x-type jag, you get the idea....
big old & boxy at least you can tell the ******* apart

Well if you think buying a Biturbo qualifies you for the funny farm I have a '73 Bora. They are reputed to be very tempremental but with regular use and as I said before using someone who knows how to sort the car out it is not too bad. I've driven it as far as Budapest and will be driving it to Vienna in September this year.
I though about buying a Biturbo as an every day car, Andy Heywood reckoned he could find me one that would be good enough but I ended up buying the scoob instead and here I am.

I like Maserati's actually, even the bi-turbo, although the Bora and Merak are my favourites. I just don't think they are a wise buy for a novice or someone who doesn't have pots of cash spare to keep one running.

Good point NACRO. Have to say buying the Bora was a 'now or never' thing for me and if it developed a major engine problem it would be off the road for quite a while whilst I saved up. It is not too bad in terms of running costs now we ave worked throgh the problems and dealt with all the things that had suffered from lack of use. As I said before Bill McGrath's reckon they can make a Biturbo into a good useable car as they know all the weak spots and have developed fixes.

Robin -- interesting stuff ... does the Bora have the high-pressure hydraulics etc that were co-developed with Citroen?
Tell us more ... we could do with a bit of car **** on a hot afternoon

that would be me then
edited to add - are they quick then , I had to ask, I think it has 200bhp which prob isnt that much as it looks a heavy car.
The ghibli always looked like it could do business ??
