I had a Vectra Sri. Very dull, liked it at first, but got quickly bored off it.
Only had a few problems with it, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, and a faulty ecu.
That was about all in 2 years of ownsership. Bit thirsty, but compared to a scoob or evo, mpg is fine.

I had a very high mileage N reg 2.0 SRi which averaged 35 mpg being thrashed everywhere, torquey motor, gearbox broke just before I got rid of it, but no other major problems.
I then had an R reg SRi 120 (?) the 1.8 with the elliptical exhaust, much better handling (although grip was pretty poor) and just as fast as the 2.0 litre once on the move, although mileage was no better.
Good dependable cars, I thought, would happily have another as a motorway/A-road shlepper.
Test drove a V6 SRi and it felt a little unweildy compared to the 4 pots, and not much faster and but sounded good.

For the price you pay for one they are not bad motors.
A pal of mine has an SRi 2.6 V6, goes very well 0-60 in around 7.5 secs, top speed of around 140mph. He bought his just over a year ago when it was only already 16 months old and he paid only 10k for it, came with half leather, climate control, multi cd plus a host of other extras. On driving it I expected it to feel very heavy and slow, but it wasn't, handled quite well and felt pretty quick.
I suppose if you are in the market for something of that ilk then it's not a bad motor at all.
Some of the earlier 2.5 V6's sell for really low money, not bad for a cheapish, quick, exec type car.

Must be brought cheap, cost a lot to run, Beat them ****less in my Old RS 1800 Ford, even the 306 killed a few......won't see which way a CTR went.
But ok for the right money (EG CHEAP!)

2.5 V6 are not mad motors..theres bit a lag from 1st to sec but this can be fixed by lightening the flywheel and make it rev freely..dont know of any overheating probs..you can pick them up quite cheap.. i would go for the GSI better trim level ie electric front recaro seats...or if you can get your hands on a original ST200 better spec only 37 made by MSD..mildly tuned around 20 bhp more than the other V6's

Good call fatherpierre.
If i had to choose again, i'd go for the Ford V6. Nice Mondeo ST24.
Also forgot to add, my Vectra was the pre-facelift one, early 1998 model, so didn't have 16" wheels, sideskirts, or the fancy twin pipes.
Interior was kak too.

Quick in a straight line but can't go around corners. Oh, driving position is awful, pedals set for an octopus and the steering wheel is connected to the wheels with some old socks. Best off getting a Mondeo ST24, or a Primera GT which although isn't a V6, will kick it off the road when it gets a bit bendy. If you must get a V6 but good handling isn't your no1 priority, try a Passat VR6 as well.
