Daihatu make the best engines at in small sizes bar none. The CB8-0 in the GTti was and still is an amazing engine and the first car to give 100bhp per litre, remeber that.
Its its anything like a normal Daihahstu engine you'll be able to crank up ther boost to give you well over 120bhp and still be reliable and give a huge perfomance increase. I think its the same engine or similar to the one in the Mira TRxx but could be wrong.
I hope they do very well with this car as they deserve to for being so brave and going into a releatively new market.
I'm hoping to test drive one at some stage and will let you know the outcome. I know they are still thinn on the ground as Auto Express contacted me to see if I knew of one in the UK as I run the Charade GTti Owners Club.

I have a TRXX R4 which has a slightly different engine, it has a 659cc 4 cyl 16v turbo putting out 115 bhp (when put back together that is). Should be a flying machine as it only weighs 650kg

Just looked at the Daihatsu site maybe time to swap a 659 for a 659, engine appears to be an update of my TRXX and should still be very tunable.
